Hull City face a challenging situation as they prepare for the January transfer window. Ongoing EFL restrictions This means they cannot afford the transfer fee, and any deals will require league approval.

Despite these limitations, HCAFC showed creativity in the summer to bring in some effective additions. The hope is that they can repeat that approach, although January is known to be a difficult time to strengthen squads.

In order to stay in business, the Tigers may have to cut some players. Amid reports that both David Akintola and Brandon Williams may be moved, Air sports have reported interest in defenseman Cody Drameh.

He is entering the final eighteen months of his contract and HCAFC may be ready to cash in. Charlton Athletic, Stoke City, Preston North End and Millwall have all inquired about his services.

Drameh has fallen out of favor Sergej Jakirovic in recent weeks, only once since early November.

A potentially smart asset for other championship clubs

If Drameh is available in January, he could be a great addition to teams at this level. The defender has a lot of experience in the Championship and has played several times in the Premier League.

After joining Leeds United’s academy from Fulham in 2020, the now 23-year-old made a handful of Premier League appearances during the first half of the 2021/22 season before joining Cardiff City on a six-month loan spell in the Championship.

The following campaign followed a similar pattern, with Drameh playing for Leeds in the top flight before being loaned out to Luton Town. He established himself as a key starter at Kenilworth Road, playing the full 90 minutes in the Championship play-off final as the Hatters secured promotion to the Premier League.

Despite attempts to return to Luton, Drameh was loaned out to Birmingham City for a season, but the move ended in disappointment as the Blues were relegated to League One.

Cody Drameh’s Championship Performances

After his contract with Leeds United expired, he was signed by Hull City and spent last season with the Tigers. He had interest from the Premier League and Ligue 1 last summer, but stayed with HCAFC.

Will Hull sell City to a play-off rival?

Of the four teams keen on Drameh, three are Hull City’s potential rivals for the play-offs. Preston North End, Millwall and Stoke City are all aiming for a place in the top six this year.

That said, Charlton Athletic could remain in a great position to sign Drameh. Although, given the financial problems surrounding Hull City, they may not be picky about Drameh’s destination.

From Charlton’s perspective, they may have to match all offers to land him. Drameh would be an excellent option either on the right of a back three or as a wing-back.
