Perry has fought a slew of notable names since his UFC run ended. He has defeated the likes of Eddie Alvarez, Jeremy Stephens, Luke Rockhold and Michael Page in BKFC. While ‘Platinum’ remains a major star in the world of bare-knuckle boxing, he believes there are fewer opportunities for major attractions.
During an interview with MMAFighting.comPerry explained why it is becoming a bit more difficult for BKFC to create dream fights.
“There are guys who said they wouldn’t do it bare-fisted,” Perry said. “To see someone who is strong enough, because that’s a pretty high level for me in bare-knuckle fighting. There are things that I know you can tell other people they don’t know. I mean, that’s a tough question.”
“I’m thinking of names if you ask me. Nate Diaz, [Jorge]Masvidal, there’s Darren Till. Darren Till has no experience with bare knuckles that we haven’t seen at the club and no kicks. Nate Diaz and Masvidal both have bare-knuckle experience. They prefer to leave out the bare-knuckle aspect.”
Perry and Conor McGregor have teased a potential BKFC matchup in the future, but many fans aren’t sold if the fight ever happens. Although McGregor is a co-owner of the promotion, he remains under contract with UFC. Some believe that the ‘Notorious’ won’t even return to MMA competition despite his insistence.
As for the immediate future, Perry’s next fight has not yet been determined. His old rival, current BKFC Middleweight Champion David Mundell, confronted him in the ring at BKFC 82 and the two had a heated argument. Time will tell if BKFC decides to book the championship battle.
