A heavyweight that once felt Tom Aspinall’s wrath believes that the UFC Heavyweight Champion stays at the top for a while.
Aspinall received the undisputed distinction after former heavyweight champion Jon Jones retired. Aspinall held the interim gold and “Bones” was not interested in a title Unification Bout. Aspinall will put its title at stake against Ciryl Gane in the main event of UFC 321 on October 25.
Marcin Tybura knows what it’s like to share the Octagon with Aspinall. In July 2023, Aspinall scored a first round of TKO finish in his first fight from knee operation. In an interview with Mmafighting.comTybura admitted that he sees no one in the near future taking the heavyweight title of his former enemy.
“I don’t see anyone beating Tom Aspinall,” Tybura said. “I think Tom will stay on the throne for a while. But it’s not certain, because in the past I was so sure of some champions that they [would] Stay there. And they were gone two or three fights because of some other problems, as they lost ambitions or something.
“There are many factors that bring you there. At the moment I don’t see anyone beating Tom, but you never know what will happen in the future.”
Aspinall has wanted to rule the heavyweight division for some time. Although he was open to a huge fight with Jones, he eventually wanted the heavyweight division to move forward. With “bones” still uncertain about what he actually wants to do, despite the fact that he initially retires, the heavyweight division is no longer in the dark.
The last time Asinall passed the first round was back in February 2021. He will try to hold the series of the first round finishes when he met Gane, which was put in the opening frame of Jones in 2023.
