Middlebury has announced the hiring of Trent GrimShaw as an assistant hockey coach for men.
GrimShaw joins the Panthers after playing in the SPHL during the 2024-25 season.
“I am very enthusiastic to welcome Trent in the Middlebury community and the men’s hockey program,” said men’s hockey coach Jack Ceglarki in a statement. “He will bring energy, passion and playing experience to our team that I know our players will like to have around them.”
“It is an honor and a privilege to become a member of Middlebury, a program where both academics and athletics are appreciated at the highest level,” GrimShaw added. “I look forward to contributing to his proud tradition of excellence on and outside the ice.”
Away from the competition, GrimShaw has served as an agent at AHA -Advies in the past year, in which players and their families are accompanied on progress to the junior and collegial levels of ice hockey, while personalized players’ development and exposure plans are drawn up. Before his role in AHA advising, he served as a coach for skills development at Hockey University and Oswego Minor Hockey.
Grimshaw has also held assistant coaching positions with FTH Hockey, Pioneer High School and Compuware for the past two years. He spent six winters (2017-23) as a skill coach with total package hockey and was named an American hockey camp instructor in 2018.
GrimShaw completed his collegial career at Oswego in 2024 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Welfare with a minor in athletic coaching.
