Shawn Kemp was sentenced to 30 days of electronic housing monitoring after firing a gun in a parking space in a Tacoma shopping center in March 2023.
The six-time NBA All-Star is obliged to start home within two weeks, to serve a year of State Supervision and to complete 240 hours of community service, According to the Seattle Times.
Kemp argued in May guilty of second -degree attack and admitted that he shot two men in a Toyota 4runner after they had stolen burglaries in his truck and countless items, including keys for his company, a mobile phone, paperwork and sports memorabilia.
Kemp then followed the location of the telephone to detect the thief that the stolen 4runner rode.
Allegedly he turned to the fire after one of the men started to fire a gun to him.
Kemp was initially accused of a first degree attack with a firearm improvement and had added second-degree attack, firearm improvement and drive-by shooting costs in May.
“Shawn is dedicated to move forward in a positive direction,” said Kemp’s lawyer Tim Leary earlier this summer. “He was presented with an offer from the state that enables him to take responsibility, but I think that the self -defense character also recognizes how this happened.”
The prosecution had encouraged the judge to condemn him to nine months in prison, a year in the custody of the community and to pay a refund.
‘[Kemp’s] The plan is to tell the community about the dangers of rifle, to really be a positive influence on the youth, “said Aaron Kiviat, one of the other lawyers of Kemp.
Kemp spent 14 years in the NBA and retired after the 2002-03 season.
He had his best run with the Supersonics, making the NBA Finals of 1996 and All-NBA second team three times during his time in Seattle.
