Former NBA guard Patrick Beverley arrested for assault in Texas

Former NBA guard Patrick Beverley was arrested in Texas this week on assault charges, according to records obtained by The Post.

TMZ was the first to report Beverley’s arrest, adding that he was taken into custody in Fort Bend County and charged with family violence.

He posted a $40,000 bond.

Beverly is expected to be released later Friday evening.

Jail records show the alleged attack occurred on a family member/household member and impaired breathing or circulation.

Details surrounding the alleged incident have not yet been made public.

A third-degree felony in Texas carries a prison sentence of two to 10 years upon conviction.

Beverly took to social media after reports of his arrest.

“Please don’t believe everything you see on the internet. I hope all is well, Luv,” he wrote on X.

Although the veteran guard has had disciplinary run-ins in the past — including NBA suspensions for confrontations with fans and media — he has no public record of prior arrests for violent crimes.

However, he was arrested in 2015 for a unpaid toll violation after a traffic stop.

A lawyer for the former NBA player told TMZ that he is ready to tell his side of the story in court.

“Patrick Beverley has no criminal record, attorney Letitia Quinones-Hollins told TMZ. “He cares deeply about his little sister – a young lady, a minor. Considering that when he unexpectedly found her alone in the house in the middle of the night with an 18-year-old man, he was understandably concerned, as any brother would be about his sister. However, we do not believe that what followed happened in the manner described and we look forward to the opportunity to address this in court.”

Beverley last played in the NBA in 2024 and later signed with Hapoel Tel Aviv last summer to play in the Israeli Basketball Premier League and in the EuroCup.

Beverley parted ways with the organization in February and did not complete his season in Europe.

The 37-year-old guard made three All-Defensive teams during his NBA career, playing in the league from 2012 to 2024 after an earlier stint in Europe.
