Former Inter Milan President Ernesto Pellegrini died at the age of 84, only a few hours before the final of the Champions League in Munich.
Pellegrini owned the club between 1984 and 1995 and was chairman of a trophy-charged era, winning a record-breaking Serie A-title and two UEFA cups.
Pellegrini, a resident of Milan and successful, bought the Italian giants from Ivanoe Fraizzoli and was influential in the arrivals of various superstars, including Lothar Matthaus, Jurgen Klinsmann and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
Inter also won the Supercoppa Italiana under his stewardship, while the UEFA Cup triumph of the 1991 brought an end for a waiting time of 26 years on a European trophy.
Pellegrini sold the club to Massimo Moratti in 1995.
He was included in 2020 in the valued Hall of Fame of the club.

According to the Italian publication La Gazzetta Dello SportPellegrini died on Saturday morning at 8 am, shortly before the final of the Champions League.
Inter is facing Paris Saint-Germain in the Allianz Arena and the players from the Italian side wear black bracelets to pay tribute to their deceased president.
Interly promoting Pellegrini said: “President Ernesto Pellegrini has left us.
“He has led Inter with wisdom, honor and determination for eleven years, giving an indelible mark on the history of our club.
“FC Internazionale Milano and all Nerazzurri fans gather around his family.”
Pellegrini leaves his wife Ivana and daughter Valentina.
