Former Chelsea star Oscar, 34, was rushed to hospital after ‘collapsed’ during training

OSCAR was rushed to hospital after reportedly collapsing during training with Sao Paulo.

The former Chelsea star lost consciousness while working on an exercise bike when he started feeling unwell.

Oscar, 34, then fell to the ground and Brazilian media claiming he was unconscious for two minutes.

He was then rushed in an ambulance to Einstein Hospital Israelita in Sao Paulo, Brazil for further tests.

Medical staff were able to stabilize the midfielder when it was discovered he was suffering from heart problems.

The club has now issued a statement saying he will remain under further observation until the extent of his diagnosis is known.

A statement read: “During tests carried out on Tuesday morning at SuperCT, as part of the preparation for the 2026 pre-season, the athlete Oscar presented an incident with cardiological changes, which was immediately attended to by the club’s professionals and the medical team of Einstein Hospital Israelita, who were present at the venue.

“The player was subsequently taken to hospital where he is clinically stable and remains under observation for further tests to clarify the diagnosis.

“As usual and with respect for the player’s privacy, new information will be released as soon as there is an update from the medical team, in consultation with Oscar.”

Further reports have suggested that Oscar is now considering retirement.

It is claimed the decision would be made so he can focus on his recovery.

Oscar spent five years in West London before moving to Shanghai SIPG, now known as Shanghai Port, in January 2017.

Between 2012 and his departure he played more than 200 games for Chelsea, scoring 38 goals.

He helped the club win two Premier League titles, as well as the League Cup and the Europa League.

The Brazilian secured a £60 million move and signed a contract worth £400,000 a week.

He spent almost eight years with the Chinese Super League side before finally leaving in 2024.

He had made a staggering return £175 million and won three league titles in the Far East.

After 22 days without a club, he signed a three-year contract for Sao Paulo on December 25.

He came through the club’s academy and made twelve appearances for the first team before moving to Chelsea.

Since rejoining the club, he has made 27 appearances, scoring three goals and assisting a further eleven times.

He last made an appearance in August in the 2-0 win over Corinthians, but was forced to leave after just 16 minutes with an injury.

Tests showed that he had broken a vertebra and has since been included in the matchday squad twice.
