This is the second time Groshans has signed with a team for a minor league deal out of free agency. He signed with the Royals in November 2024 and played 67 games between their Double-A and Triple-A affiliates last season. In those games, he hit .284/.360/.362 with three home runs, 36 RBIs, 8 doubles and a triple.
He struggled through just eight matches with Triple-A Omaha, but those matches were spread out over two to three games throughout the season. He hit .291 during the 59 games he played at Double-A Northwest Arkansas.
The Atlanta Braves have signed Jordan Groshans to a minor league contract. The infielder has a .267 batting average and 260 RBI throughout his minor league career.
Groshans has built quite the minor league resume during his seven professional seasons. He was drafted by the Blue Jays in the first round of the 2018 MLB Draft, spending parts of four years with the club, with his 2020 season canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
After playing 31 games with Miami’s Triple-A affiliate, Groshans made his Major League debut with the Marlins, spending the final month and a bit of the ’22 season in the Majors. Those 17 games remain the only games he has logged at the MLB level. He has since played in the Yankees, Athletics and Royals farm systems.
