The #Brave today agreed to terms with RHP Joel Payamps on a one-year contract worth $2.25 million through the 2026 season.
Payamps appeared in two games for the Braves in 2025, posting a 3.38 ERA and 6.51 FIP in two and two-thirds innings. He spent most of his season with the Milwaukee Brewers, where he had a 7.23 ERA and 4.32 FIP in 23.2 innings pitched, giving the 31-year-old a 6.84 ERA and 4.54 FIP.
It was a less good year for the right-handed pitcher. In 2024, Payamps had a 3.05 ERA and 3.73 FIP in 59 innings pitched, with a 25.1 K% and 7.7 BB%. The year before, Payamps had a 2.55 ERA and 3.19 FIP in 70.2 innings pitched with a 26.8 K% and 5.9 BB%, easily the best season of his career.
For some reason, he was designated for assignment in mid-July and traded to the Kansas City Royals for cash. Payamps posted a 4.43 ERA and 3.96 FIP in 20.1 innings to finish the 2021 season. In the 2022 season, he started with the Royals, but he ended his season with the Oakland Athletics. For the season, he had a 3.23 ERA and 4.24 FIP in 55.2 innings pitched.
Brace yourself, it’s going to be a fun few months!
