Flyers earn first win for new head coach, under Panthers, 5-2 | Pro Hockey News

PHILADELPHIA – The Flyers earned their first win of the season and the first for their new head coach Rick Tocchet, a 5-2 win over the Florida Panthers.

“It’s great, that first win,” said Tocchet. “But I’m just happy with the guys, the way they worked and worked on the concepts. There are some growing pains, but I’m happy with the way they persevered. We can enjoy tonight and move on tomorrow.”

The kites Sean Couturier hit a double and four runs that night.

And vladar made 24 saves for the win.

“They came out quick, they had a lot of jump to start the game and put good pressure on us,” Panthers said Sam Bennett said. “I thought we actually played well in the third, we had good pushback and had a lot of chances. They took advantage of the capitalization and we couldn’t get it back.”

The Panthers’ Sam Bennett had two points on one goal.

“We didn’t have any momentum at that point, and that gave us a lot of life at the end of the period there,” Bennett said. “That was a big goal and it really motivated us for third place.”

Tyson Foerster, Bobby BrinkAnd Christian Dvořák had some markers for the Flyers.

Bennett also scored for the Panthers.

“It’s a tough team to play against, so to hang in there against that team…” Tocchet said. “Can we build confidence? Can we build an identity, a little swagger? Hopefully this can help catapult us to the next level. We’ll see.”

Daniil Tarasov made 17 saves in the loss.
