Flyers’ 2025-26 schedule projection halfway through the preseason – The Hockey Writers Philadelphia Flyers Latest News, Analysis and more

We are officially in the rear half of the pres season schedule of the Philadelphia Flyers. Four games down, three games to go for the orange and black take the ice cream for games that matter, starting on October 9 with a formidable-but-but-but-but-florida panthers team.

There are still around 40 players left in the team schedule of the team, a song that has to be cut almost in two in the following week. For a good part of those players, there is a lot of certainty about whether they will start the season with the big team or not. A handful of whom many of whom have never cracked an NHL open-night schedule, however, are still fighting for roster spots. Here who is still fighting for a role and how they are in their search to break the camp as a flyer.

Ahead

Roosterloten (11): Travis Konecny, Sean Couturier, Owen Tippett, Trevor Zegras, Christian Dvorak, Noah Cates, Tyson Foerster, Garnet Hathaway, Nic Deslauriers, Bobby Brink, Matvei Michkov

Looks good (2): Rodrigo Abols, Nikita Grebenkin

On the Bubble (5): Alex Bump, Jett Lucanko, Denver Barkey, Jacob Gaucher, Anthony Richard

It is good to have a Foerster in this top group after the news in question about the elbow injury and infection that he sustained at the world championships. In the practical intensity he is sustained as expected and is ready to make his season debut on Monday evening, dress up in addition to his two most promising line sizes from last season in Bobby Brink and Noah Cates.

Also playing in Monday’s game is Abols, who has been a line -Op -not in the exhibition schedule of Philadelphia. The VeterArtcentrum is a safe option to be the fourth line center of the team, although it is not outside the empire of the possibility that it can be pushed out of screen with a strong finish of Bump or Lankanko. Both young people sometimes flashed during the pre -season, but did not fully realize the hype after Bump seemed to have the inside of a schedule place and Lucanko briefly cracked the club last season.

Grebenkin probably did the most Boost are stock From everyone in the camp. Whether it is a fourth liner or perhaps in a more offensive place on the third line, Grebenkin will most likely feel his second NHL Stint after an audition last season with the Toronto Maple Leafs. There are still many players with uncertainty about their role, such as Dvorak and Cates, who can both play center or the wing and can be used in the line -up higher or lower.

The last four players mentioned, Barkey, Gendron, Richard and Gaucher are included for parallel reasons. Barkey and Gendron have performed pretty well by exercises and preserves, but given their age (and with Barkey, his size), they are in principle guaranteed the season in the American Hockey League (AHL). In the meantime, Gaucher and Richard do not have the skill or ceiling of Barkey, but a large right -handed center is always intriguing. Gaucher had a great scoring season in the AHL last season and could be a candidate to make the team like a depth role. The injury of Lane Pederson bursts the door for him. The same applies to Anthony Richard, although his smaller status probably works against him here.

Defenders

Roster Locks (5): Travis Sanheim, Cam York, Nick Seeler, Jamie Drysdale, Egor Zamula

Looks good (2): Emil Andrae, Dennis Gilbert

On the bubble (2): Noah Juulsen, Adam Ginning

Wounded Reserve (1): Rasmus Ristolainen

The struggle to find a replacement for ristolaines while he Restores Triceps -Operation Looks more challenging than expected. All five non-grid closed have NHL experience (although it is very minimal for Grans, Ginning and Andrae) but nobody has had a complete camp.

Andrae has the highest advantage of the group, which looks like a top-four defender for a piece last season. The greatest concern with him is the size; It is only 5-foot-9, 189 pounds, which is comparable to the measurements of Jamie Drysdale. If Drysdale and Travis Sanheim or Cam York are the choices to run the two Power-Play units, the brass may feel as if there is no place for him, especially since Andrae is the only listed player who is still exempt.

If the flyers Ristolainen want to replace as closely as possible from a physical position, Helge Grans would have been the obvious choice, especially because he had a number of promising moments at the NHL level last season. But he was abandoned after an ugly version in Saturday’s PR sentence game, which added a number of intriguing to Ginning, another more defensive option. Andrae of Ginning should give the back of the flyers a Swedish taste.

There will probably also be an experienced depth option to be in the press box to also start the season. Gilbert and Juulsen have the two best CVs for that role, although if the performance of the preseason is an indicator, the task should be to lose Gilbert. Head coach Rick Tocchet has coached Juulsen much earlier, so at least it is possible that he trusts the well -known option, especially if the flyers want a different right -handed shot available if Andrae or Ginning makes the team.

Goalkeepers

Roster Locks (2): Dan Vladar, Samuel Erson

Credit to ALEKSEI Kolosov for avoiding a second consecutive camp from Off-Ice Drama. No late arrival or questions about whether he accepts an assignment to the AHL this year. Its .860 savings percentage in six periods will probably exaggerate the struggles that have gone away in September. Even a perfect version would probably still have a ticket for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, although Kolosov is probably still in line for a call-up in the middle season.

Erson and Vladar both start to increase their workload; Erson played the entire game of Saturday and Vladar is expected to do the same on Monday. The Voice of trust from the organization Opposite Erson still makes him the likely starter of the opening, although that is not put in stone.

The official projection

With the Ivan Fedotov trade in the Columbus Blue Jackets, the flyers have sufficient cap To wear a full-23 man selection and to prevent Ryan Ellis from being placed on long-term wounded reserve. The flyers can be $ 6.25 million CAP -Hit delete if necessary, but it should not be necessary at the moment. That said, here is the current projection for the team.

Forwards (14): Travis Konecny, Sean Couturier, Owen Tippett, Trevor Zegras, Christian Dvorak, Noah Cates, Tyson Foerster, Garnet Hathaway, Nic Deslauriers, Bobby Brink, Matvei Michkov, Rodrigo Abols, Nikita GrebenkinJacob Gaucher

Defenders (7): Travis Sanheim, Cam York, Nick Seeler, Jamie Drysdale, Egor ZamulaEmil Andrae, Dennis Gilbert

Goalkeepers (2): And Vladar, Samuel Erson

Bump was definitely the most difficult player to cut out of the current selection. If he makes it, I assume Gaucher is going to the minors. There is just no real reason to hurry things with Bump, especially with Grebenkin who plays well and comes from a goal on Saturday. Anyway, Deslauriers is probably a healthy scratch on the opening evening. I have Gaucher in the last place, simply because I think Bump or Lucanko have done enough to justify a place.

However, the decision to relegate Lucanko will be more difficult because he has to make the flyers or return to the Ontario Hockey League, a sub -optimal development path. It would still be better than throwing Lucanko at the wolves. However, I would not be astonished if the flyers keep him on the Roster to start the season and see if a situation opens where it makes sense to have the playing time extensive, either if he starts if someone is injured.

On the back I think Andrae played well enough to earn the last place in the starting line -up. There is minimal concern about the remaining four players who are claimed for me. Gilbert has made the least mistakes of the group, except perhaps Ginning, but he has much more NHL experience. He would probably start in the press box, but could play one on the night if another defender was chosen about Andrae, making Gilbert the sixth or seventh defender. Only in September 2025 is that the perfect way to terminate an article.
