Florida Squad Captures Impact Team Tennis National Championship – USTA Florida

USTA Florida was once again well represented on the national stage, this time at the Impact Team Tennis National Championships in Tuscon, Arizona. A determined group of Florida 3.5 players impressed and captured the 60 and Over 3.5 Division titles.

The division consisted of five highly competitive teams and more than 70 players representing Illinois, Arizona, Maryland, Wisconsin and Florida. Through consistent teamwork, strong match play and resilient performances throughout the weekend, the Florida contingent rose to the top and secured the championship.

The winning team consisted of Captain, Peter Roscia, Diane Greenholt, Noordin Sadruddin Lalani, Irene Plonczak, Kurt Kamrad, Sue Koziol and Carlos Serrano. Each player contributed key wins throughout the tournament, helping Florida emerge as the most balanced and prepared team in the field.

“I have been involved with World Team Tennis since its inception 25 years ago, when I started playing tennis at the age of 50 with a group of players on Key Biscayne,” said the captain, Peter Roscia. “Winning is not the priority when playing team tennis, but enjoying each other’s company. Winning ten national titles over the years is actually what keeps us going back for more,” he said. “But the fun and excitement of sharing time with each other, whether touring the city or simply experiencing a new culture, is most important to us.

This national title reflects the depth of competitive play at the senior level across the state and shows how USTA Florida athletes continue to excel on bigger stages. For the team, the Tucson experience was not just about competition, but also about camaraderie, sportsmanship and proudly representing Florida tennis.

Florida was also represented in the 4.0 division by another dedicated team of USTA players: Captain Peter Roscia, Sue Koziol, Doug Greenholt, Suzanne Siegler, Maggie Nunez and Anthony Crotti. They faced teams from Utah, California, Missouri and Arizona in a strong field of five teams. Although they fell just short of securing the championship, the group put on an impressive performance and demonstrated the same determination and teamwork seen at all levels of the Florida tennis community.

Both teams showed the spirit of competition that defines Impact Team Tennis. Their efforts highlight how players across Florida continue to improve the game and inspire others to get involved in competitive and team tennis opportunities across the state.
