Andersson starts the last season of a six-year contract that bears a team-friendly cap hit of $ 4.55 million. Despite a 2024-25 campaign, he is a top-four defender of every day in every team in the NHL, and he is also a legal shot, who always appreciate general managers.

While Cooley may get a final shot to see what he can do, his struggles in the American Hockey League (AHL) appear to be in the second half of the 2024-25 season, combined with his average game for the best preseason so far, freeing the road for Prosvetov to earn a place behind Dustin Wolf.

Kerins make a big impression

After Saturday’s outing, head coach Ryan Huska had a lot of praise for the line of Kerins, who also consisted of Sam Honzek and Adam Klapka.

“I thought they were our best line tonight,” Huska told reporters. “Every time they were on the ice, I thought they actually pushed back and controlled the majority of the game when they were there. Rory keeps doing a good job, just like his linemates.”
