In the first weeks of the Premier League season, several stars have difficulty repeating earlier exploits.
Out of shape we looked at five Premier League players who did not find the form of last season during the opening weeks of the 2025/26 campaign.
Five Premier League players who have difficulty finding the form of last season
Ollie Watkins – Aston Villa
Aston Villa has so far disappointed this season as a collective, with the 13th of Unai Emery in the table while we are entering the international break of October. Goals have been a problem for the Villans, who just did not find it in their opening of four games. Back-to-back victories have lifted the mood, although there is little in Claret and Blue performing that perform just as impressive as last season.
Among them is Ollie Watkins, who only scored once in the seven Premier League performances. Watkins has registered 56 goals and assists in the last two Premier League seasons, but has only had a lonely target involvement at a slow start of the 2025/26 season.
Has Ollie Watkins delivered an attacking return?

He has retained his place in the English team this month, but knows that versions – and output – have to improve.
Antonee Robinson – Fulham
No defender in the Premier League offered more assists than Antonee Robinson last season, with the American Recording 10 Assists. On the entire Premier League, only three players created – Mohamed Salah, Jacob Murphy and Antony Elanga – more goals than Robinson, but he was strangely overlooked during the first games of the new season.
Robinson underwent a knee operation in the summer, but was fit enough to return to the action of the first team in August. Since then, however, he has had to start a Premier League match and only has 61 minutes in three replacement performances.
Mohamed Salah – Liverpool
For only a mortal return of four target involvement in seven Premier League matches, a solid return may seem like a solid return. However, Mohamed Salah has not been a normal player in recent seasons.
Even in view of an expected dip of the record -breaking performance last season, Salah’s stuttering start caused Liverpool. The figures from the Egyptian for shots, important passes, dribbles and errors have fallen dramatically, with Liverpool’s Talisman far from his best.
Mo Salah did not win any duel, completed a take-on or made a shot on Target vs. Chelsea. He had the least details (35) of every outfielder who played 90 minutes.

Changes in staff around him may have influenced the start of Salah, but there will be some concern that this can be the start of a decline for a player who became 33 in the summer.
Ibrahima Konate – Liverpool
Another important part of Liverpool’s titles last season, Ibrahima Konate, has looked at a shadow of his former self this season. Only one player has made more mistakes that leads to a shot than the Frenchman, while his distribution has been criticized, with Liverpool having no ideas in their structure.
Konate, an impressive presence, has seen Konate shaky in the opening weeks of the season. Can an expired contract and speculation about an exit contributing factors?
Chris Wood – Nottingham Forest
Chris Wood shot Nottingham Forest last season on the European qualification and scored 20 league goals in the best Premier League campaign of his career. He started the current campaign in a similar way with an opening weekend double against Brentford, but since then fortunes of wood and forest have fallen.
Wood has not been scored since the opening weekend, empty in six consecutive games, while Forest did not win at the time. Under pressure from the new signing Igor Jesus, who made an impression in cup competition, Wood must rediscover his target score-touch.
