Four Pathway Development Centers sent players to this year’s first of this year’s PDC camps in the weekend of 9-10 August.
The CAMP program, designed to support the development of the PDC players, is a program that will bring specific groups of players to the Elite Training Center in Sheffield four times a year, culminating in the U11 & U13 Pathway Development Cup in May.
Players were present from the northeast (Ormesby), North West (Halton), East Midlands (Draycott & Long Eaton) and South East (Kingfisher), where each PDC also sent a coach to support the training camp, helping to promote a culture of both coach and players development.
In addition to the PDC coaches, the camp was led by Dise Lead and Talent Pathway Support Coach Natalie Green, with support from the National Pathway Charlotte Carey, head of Pathway Development Emma Vickers and Evie Collier, Coach Learning and Development Manager. Colette Noenan also supported as part of the Shecoaches program.
Players participated in various activities, at the table, including sessions that focus on consistency and multiball, and had the opportunity to work more closely with each of the coaches in specific individual development areas.
Natalie Green said: “For the vast majority of these players it is their first time here in Sheffield in the Elite Training Center and it is a great opportunity to inspire them to keep working hard.
“The PDCs are a springboard for players to be selected to enter the table tennis of the Hopes team, England, and camps such as these enable the coaches to see the players in action, both on and next to the table.”
The following weekend will take place in November and the focus group for this camp is girls, who are supported by the shooaches -cohort.
