Finland‘s Veteran Pacer Mahesh Tambe produced a historical spell against Estonia, in which he chose five wickets in just eight balls, making it the fastest five-wicket trait in the history of the international T20 cricket. The performance was achieved during the third and last T20i of the series in Tallinn on Sunday, July 27, 2025, which helped Finland the series 2-1.
Before this competition, the record for the fastest five-wicket trek in T20is was held by Junaid Aziz van Bahrain, who reached the performance in 10 balls against Germany in 2022. The 40-year-old Finnish broke the record after three years.
Introduced in the attack in the 17th over from the innings of Estonia, Sahil Chauhan, who has the record for the fastest T20 century, rejected his third delivery. He succeeded it by sending Muhammad Usman Sr and Steffan Gooch back to the Pavilion in the same, ending with three wickets in four balls and missing a hat trick.
Tambe returned to the 19th and completed the rare hat trick by removing Rupam Baruah and Pranay Gheewala from successive deliveries. This brought his figures on five wickets in just eight deliveries. Tambe ended with figures of five wickets for 19 runs in his two-way spell and played a major role in limiting Estonia to 141 in 19.4 overs. His enchantment helped to limit Finland Estonia to push after 160.

Finland chased the 142-run target with five wickets in hand and to save 11 balls, with Aravind Mohan anchored the innings with a 67-run knock. Contributions from Jordan O’Brien and Amjad Sher helped to seal the victory. With this victory, Finland insured the T20i series 2-1, after Estland had raised it in the second game. For his record -breaking performance, Tambe was rightly assessed player of the game. In the meantime, Tambe has taken 28 wickets so far in 24 T20is. His 5/19 against Estonia is so far as his best career performance.
