Financing wave for new private PV systems, also in 2026

In concrete terms, a total of 21,152 applications have been submitted for the current third PV funding call. A total of 123.7 million euros in financing was available for this. Of the applications received, 20,610 received a total of 108.2 million euros in subsidies. By comparison, the first two funding calls awarded only around €80 million, so demand is growing.

“We will only become more independent from international price fluctuations if we strengthen our own energy production – and energy will only become cheaper if we expand the renewable sources that we produce cheaply in Austria: photovoltaics, wind and water. That is why there is a clear commitment to renewable energy – and an equally clear commitment to this support,” said Energy Minister Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer.

The “Made-in-Europe bonus” is in high demand.
The ‘Made-in-Europe bonus’ is popular, which gives you a 10 percent higher investment subsidy if you buy European components for the PV system. Domestic tax money should strengthen domestic and European value creation and not finance international competition, says Hattmannsdorfer.

State Secretary for Energy Elisabeth Zehetner adds: “With the Made in Europe bonus, we are turning the energy transition into a revival project on our own. Austria and Europe must not only be a sales market for renewable technologies, but also a production and innovation location.”
