In today’s interview we speak with Shane McLeodcoach of the Belgian men’s hockey team…
What are the Red Lions’ ambitions for this new Pro League season?
“It is an interesting Proleague 2025/2026 as it will be a big part of many teams’ preparation for the World Cup and will also provide a ticket to the Olympic Games in LA. This means there will be great interest in the teams competing at the top of this competition.”
Are you looking forward to qualifying for LA 2028?
“All teams (including us) would enjoy an early ticket to the biggest event on the world hockey calendar. LA is never far away. It won’t be long before these Olympic Games become a focal point, but first all eyes are on the World Cup in Belgium and the Netherlands.”
How important is the Pro League in your preparation for the next big tournaments?
“The Proleague gives us the opportunity to develop players and improve our readiness for big competitions. We will use it that way.”
How do you want to grow as a team this season?
“We have a lot of new players in our program who need to gain experience. The more this group can play together, the faster they will go through this process. We already have some players who are showing a greater willingness to become top international hockey.”
