Figure Skating – Skate America 2025: Madison Chock and Evan Bates halfway to record-breaking fifth ice dance victory at home Grand Prix

Madison Chock and Evan Bates are on the verge of a record-breaking fifth title Skate America.

The experienced American ice dancing duo clocked a time of 84.77 on Saturday afternoon (November 15) in Lake Placid, New York, building a seven-point lead over Zoe and Zacharary. of Canada at 77.42.

Chock/Bates won Skate America for the first time in 2014 and added more titles in 2015, 2022 and 2023.

The three-time and reigning world champion is moving closer to securing a spot for next month’s edition Grand Prix Final in Nagoya, Japan, where the top six teams in each discipline qualify.

Their Lenny Kravitz medley got the biggest roar from the Lake Placid rhythm dance crowd as the team earned top scores on both their technical and artistic elements.

Chock/Bates opened their Grand Prix series on Cup of China three weeks ago and claimed victory there. They have won a total of eight Grand Prix golds.

“We have made a lot of improvements since the Cup of China,” said the 33-year-old Chock. “We executed that very well today, and so I’m just very proud of how we skated and how we enjoyed the moment together.”

France Yevgeniia Lopareva and Geoffrey Brissaud sits third at 76.72.

USA Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenkofavorites for the podium, dropped to fifth place after their rhythm, with a 72.74. They were seventh overall when it came to their technical figures.
