Earlier this summer, large headlines were brought with reports about a Samurai sword attack on Yoel Romero from a former BKFC champion. The unbeaten bare boxer in question has finally offered his side of the story.
Alberto Blas, the hunter in question, initially offered a statement that he released after switching to BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing from BKFC. Although the reigning champion of BKFC at the time of his departure, Blas spoke to what he called unfortunate accusations against him in a statement released by Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship after the Cubaan had left the company.
When asked whether it feels good to just compete again and not having to concentrate on external noise as much after his recent successful BKB debut, said Blas,
“Yes, you know, when that happens, I feel bad because I know what kind of person I am, you know. People in the neighborhood know what kind of person I am, you know.
“People send me texts, you, the murderer, you the bad person. It’s good. It’s good, you know. That thing, you know, keep my mind, my mind so focused and so strong. The moment I start fighting, I don’t care what happens outside, you know.”
The situation with Yoel Romero that Blas was finally acquitted of was quite dramatic and understandably attracted attention. The incident that was reported would have taken place after a fight with the American top team that was said to have escalated in something much bigger.
Reports from Blas who tried to touch Romero with a car before they reportedly took the samurai -sword from his trunk, took place in January 2022. When he was asked if something he wanted to clarify with regard to those reports, Blas explained
“The only good thing I want to clarify, I am not guilty. I am not guilty and what guy, you know, post that it is, whatever there is, it knows, it lies. It lies, everything lies, you know here.
‘I’m going to be it [a] Burger soon, you know. I’m going to be [a] Burger soon and I am here. I am happy, you know, I have my family. I have my team and I keep making a lot of money for my family, for me and for my team. That’s it, you know [laughs]. I know how to pronounce them, you know. “
Yoel Romero Samurai Sword Incident: “Something like that happened,” says Blas
When asked for the specific detail in the report with regard to the use of a Samurai sword, Blas joked,
“Yes, something like that happened. But you know, I don’t like it. I don’t like talking about that s ** t, you know. Because what happened earlier, it happened, you know. What I said, I am not guilty. I am free, you know. I have nothing on my record.
“I am super happy because I have my family. I have my daughter, my baby boy comes in my way, you know. I am becoming champion because I stay the champion. Nobody, nobody takes my belt. I am the champion, you know. I am seven and zero and nobody takes my belt, you know.”
“But at the moment I am becoming the champion in BKB. I am becoming a double champion. Nobody does it earlier. I am the first man, the first [in] Bare Knuckle, and I will soon go pound for pounds. I will be a pound for pounds, you know. “
