Regional Broadcasting Initiative, Pacificaus TV, supplied by FreetV Australia, has marked its 5th birthday.
Since the launch in May 2020 to Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Fiji, Australian programs have now screened to 17 free-to-air-broadcasters in 11 Pacific Nations. Titles include drama, children, lifestyle, current affairs and live sport including The Voice, MasterChef Australia, Lego Masters, Rugby Union, Rugby League, football and Netball.
“We are incredibly proud of what Pacificaus TV has achieved in just five years,” said Bridget Fair, CEO of Free TV. “It is more than just supplying TV programs -it is a platform for media -feers, cultural exchange and shared values in the region.”
Anika Wells MP, Minister of Communication, said: “With high -quality Australian programs that are now accessible by 11 countries in the Pacific, Pacificaus TV is a powerful example of our dedication to the region -promoting stronger cultural ties and a more lively regional media landscape.
Francis Herman, Chief Executive Officer of the Vanuatu Broadcasting and Television Corporation (VBTC), added, “We wish Pacificaus TV a happy 5th birthday and recognize the enormous contribution that it makes to quality content to our local television service.”
In 2025, 2,950 hours will be delivered – more than double the first output of Pacificaus TV.
Pacificaus TV is an important part of Australia’s Indo-Pacific broadcasting strategy and supports the long-term dedication of Australia to support a robust media sector in the Pacific Ocean.
