Ferdinand is stunned when Mane finally reveals what really happened to Salah

Sadio Mane has spoken openly about Mo Salah, this time going deeper than ever into the Burnley flashpoint that dominated the headlines in 2019.

The former Southampton winger was asked Rio Ferdinand presents whether he felt a real rivalry with our number 11.

He admitted that many people “Mostly say the same thing” but emphasized that the competitive advantage the pair shared was never a negative thing.

The Senegalese forward said: “[Salah is a] great player. Good player. Great player,” Before we break down how decisions on the field can be clouded by instinct.

This echoes Salah’s own comments earlier this year, when he told L’Equipe “The player who gave Mane the most assists was me”showing how this feud has been somewhat overplayed.

Mane described himself as “Calm” And “friendly to everyone”but made it clear that sometimes attackers only see the goal.

He explained that to Salah “Sometimes he goes to me, sometimes not”before noting that Roberto Firmino was “the only one there who shares the ball”.

This was not a criticism of Salah or his time at Anfield. It was clear that Sadio still has a lot of respect for our number 11 and for the club where he made his name in football.

This reflects what Ryan Gravenberch was referring to when he revealed how Mane spoke enthusiastically about Liverpool and the standards expected in our dressing room, convincing him to move to Liverpool.

The Burnley moment inevitably resurfaced, and Mane admitted it did “really very angry” because he believed Salah “must be passed on to me”.

The Egyptian king later approached Mane to clear the air and said to him: “I didn’t see you pass. I just got the ball, I want to shoot.”

Mane revealed that the exchange brought them closer together, adding: “Since this day, we have become even closer.”

The two legends combined for 30 goals in all competitions, formed part of one of the greatest forward lines we have ever seen and delivered the trophies that defined the Jurgen Klopp era.

Mane’s mutual respect for Salah remains evident and reinforces the wider understanding of a relationship that many on the outside misunderstood.
