Jannik Sinner is the man who has defeated hard courts for the past 18 months. The number 1 player in the PIF ATP ranking has won the last three Majors on the surface and has also lifted the trophy at the Nitto ATP Finals in November.
This week the Italian has driven the draw on the Cincinnati Open, where he is the defending champion. With his victory against Felix Auger-Aliasen on Thursday, the 23-year-old improved his winning series on hard courts to 25 games.
Only Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal have won more consecutive games this century.
If Sinner catches his 18th Hard-Court title and fifth at ATP Masters 1000 level in Ohio, he will surpass the best run of Nadal on the surface. The World No. 1 has only dropped three sets over his 25 wins.
