Jacob Fearnley’s first test at the 2025 BNP Paribas Nordic Open was to attempt to complete a revenge job in Stockholm at Tallon Greekpoor. The Briton succeeded in his mission on Monday, but not before a decisive tie-break drama took place.
The No. 79 player in the PIF ATP Rankings, Fearnley, upset fifth seed Greek Spoor 6-3, 6-7(6), 7-6(5) on Day 1 of the indoor ATP 250 to avenge his second-round loss to the Dutchman at the same event a year ago. Fearnley led 6/2 at one point in the third set tiebreak but lost four points in a row, including two on own serve, before taking his two-hour, 44-minute win.

“That was very tough. I thought I was going quite comfortably until 5/3 when I served for it, and I got a bit tight,” Fearnley said in his on-court interview. “To be fair to Tallon, he fought hard and raised his level when he needed to. It was just a war to the end. Huge respect for Tallon, but glad he got through it.”
Fearnley completed the victory despite being outhit 32-34 by Greek Spoor in the winners’ bracket. The 24-year-old Briton’s serve provided the basis for his victory, and he finished the match with 78 percent (45/58) of points behind his first throw, according to Infosys ATP Stats.
After leveling his Lexus ATP Head2Head series with Greek Spoor at 1-1, Fearnley will next prepare for a second-round meeting against one of the two brothers: home wildcards Mikael Ymer and Elias Ymer will play their first-round match on Tuesday to face the Scot.
In the opening match of the day in Stockholm, Miomir Kecmanovic raced past sixth seed Alexandre Muller to snap a four-match losing streak on the ATP Tour. The Serbian number 49 in the world will next play against Tomas Martin Etcheverry or qualifier Mark Lajal.
