FC Barcelona is waiting for this cash windfall from transfers

FC Barcelona is waiting for a cash windfall of more than $30 million related to outgoing loans and transfers.

It’s no secret that Barcelona fell into an economic crisis that nearly bankrupted the club at the turn of the century.

Overpaying for transfers that didn’t work out with Neymar’s money and some of them, as well as contract extensions, were mixed up during the pandemic and the lack of matchday revenue, leading to huge plot twists such as the resignation of then-president Josep Bartomeu and Lionel Messi’s 2021 departure to Paris Saint-Germain.

Barca has gradually regained its strength, although it is no secret that it still owes money for signings that brought the likes of Raphinha and Jules Kounde to Catalonia on June 30.

At the same time, however, other sides need to settle their scores with the Blaugrana as part of what could be a major cash injection heading into next season.

As explained by SPORTBarca are set to receive more than €30 million, which would go a long way in making Marcus Rashford’s move to Manchester United permanent.

Before July 1 this year, sporting director Deco and president Joan Laporta worked out deals that permanently brought Alex Valle to Como and Sergi Dominguez to Dinamo Zagreb.

Moreover, the transfers of former players such as Ferran Jutgla and Ilaix Moriba to Celta Vigo will mean more money for Barça later on.

The total incoming amount from outgoing loans and transfers shown in the club’s accounts at the end of the last financial year on June 30 was actually €55 million, but around €21.5 million of that amount has already been paid in deals such as those that saw Pau Victor go to Braga and Jan Virgili to Real Mallorca.

However, a little bit of arithmetic shows that there should still be €33.5 million available, which would be a nice cash injection in the summer, in addition to other potential sales that could be made.

FC Barcelona already has transfer targets for the 2026/2027 season

As well as being permanently linked with Rashford’s stay, Barca have also been linked with Harry Kane from The Guardian with the England captain being their ‘first choice target to replace Robert Lewandowski’.

Lewandowski, who was also acquired from Bayern Munich in 2022, will be a free agent next summer and there are no plans to renew the veteran. At the same time, Kane is at his peak at the Bavarian club but could be captured by reportedly triggering his €65 million release clause.

Elsewhere in Germany, FC Barcelona could potentially take over Borussia Dortmund at a reduced rate as he enters the final 12 months of his contract on June 30, 2026.
