What a season for Newcastle United.
Fatigue really has a devastating impact.
45 Newcastle United matches have already been played.
There’s no way this won’t have a huge negative impact.
Crawling from one match to another.
Weekend – Midweek – Weekend – Midweek – Weekend – Midweek – And so on.
Exhausting.
Rarely another season at Newcastle United, so little recovery and reset time between games.
On top of 28 Premier League games, already 17 others – 10 Champions League, five League Cup and two FA Cup.
No one can seriously say that this does not play a major role in the way some match days ultimately go.
Newcastle United already guaranteed at least 58 games this season and could even (hopefully…) end up in the 60s!
That’s literally a season and a half’s worth of games in one season, compared to what Newcastle United were once used to. Indeed, it is one and a half times as many as Manchester United, just 40 games ahead of Man U this season in all competitions.
I think it’s both mental and physical fatigue at Newcastle United this season.
To reboot those energy levels, to get the reoriented mental side of things right.
Another match in just three days, four if you’re lucky.
So literally, almost this entire Newcastle United season has been a case of:
A day of preparation for the competition – The competition day – Recovery day – A day of preparation for the competition – The competition day – Recovery day – And so on.
It’s been brutal.
Yes, as Newcastle United fans, this is proving to be an incredibly difficult season to battle through.
We can only imagine what it’s like for Newcastle United’s players…
