Father Ted Co-maker Graham Linehan was arrested at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of inciting violence in connection with his posts on X.

His arrest had been related to three posts on X since April, about his views on challenging “a trans-geidified man” in “A-all-feminine space”.

The Metropolitan Police did not identify Linehan, but a spokesperson said: “On Monday, September 1 at 1 p.m., officers arrested a man at Heathrow Airport after he arrived at an incoming American Airlines flight.

“The man from the fifty was arrested on suspicion of inciting violence. This is due to messages on X.

“After they had been taken to police detention, officers were worried about his health and he was taken to the hospital. His condition is neither life -threatening nor life -changing. He is now saved in anticipation of further investigation.

“The arrest was made by officers of the MPS Aviation Unit. It is routine for officers who check airports to wear firearms. These were never signed or used during the arrest.”

The arrest of Linehan led to a return of various figures, including author JK Rowling and opposition politicians.

Linehan is also confronted with a separate indictment for intimidation and will appear before the court on Thursday.
