WEK 5 Fantasy Football -use report
Dillon Gabriel’s first start
It was only a matter of time before the browns gave one of their Rookie Quarterbacks a shot as a starter, and for week 5 Dillon Gabriel was the first. Gabriel came in the NFL as a limited quarterback. He is small and has a weak arm. But he is also a fast processor and accurately within 15 meters from the line of scrimmage. Kevin Stefanski ensured that the attack played for Gabriel’s strengths in his first start.
The game plan was aimed at fast, short steps that Gabriel completed routinely. On the day, Gabriel completed 19 of his 33 attempt to attend 190 yards and two touchdowns, which led to 16.1 fantasy points. With all the short steps, the tight ends of browns flourished. David Njoku and Harold Fannin Jr. For a target share of 39.4%, combined while they scored 18.7 and 11.3 PPR points respectively.
With his physical limitations, Dillon Gabriel does not quickly start in 1-QB competitions. But in SuperFlex competitions you could do much worse. The biggest collection meals here is that the tight ends of the browns get a bump.
The ravens without Lamar Jackson
Due to a hamstring injury, Lamar Jackson Week 5 had to sit outside and may also miss it next week. While Jackson is out, Cooper Rush is the starting Quarterback of the Ravens. We have a good sample size of Rush games from his time in Dallas. He is a usable quarterback that can be a decent distributor, but he does not rise any attack.
This week we saw why Rush is a backup. Admittedly, it was against a major defense of Texans, but Rush was struggling enormously. He only passed 179 meters and threw three interceptions. Because of his struggles, the ravens only ran 40 games and everyone hurts. Zay Flowers managed to find his way to 12.6 PPR points, but the rest of the skills players of the Ravens struggled. Even with a touchdown, Derrick Henry did not succeed in crossing 10 fantasy points.
As long as Lamar Jackson is out, the ravens attack will struggle. Cooper Rush is an important downgrade and changes the way the attack works. Derrick Henry has less room to run and the attack will not consistently get the first downs, which leads to less revenue games.
Jaylen Waddle WR1
In week 4, Tyreek Hill suffered a devastating knee injury, leaving Jaylen Waddle behind as the de facto top wide receiver for the dolphins. We have seen Waddle earlier in this position during his Rookie season. But that was also before the dolphins had De’von Achane, who became such a large part of their passing violation.
Week 5 was a great start to Waddle’s second era as WR1 from Miami. Waddle led the dolphins in routes that ran and goals with nine, giving him a target of 25% for the day. On those nine goals, Waddle had six catches for 110 yards and a touchdown, giving him 23 PPR points. We knew that Waddle was very talented; His last two seasons were simply disappointing because of an injury and the attacking struggles of the dolphins.
There is still some concern that the attacking line of the dolphins will hinder the attack, but at least we know that the role of Jaylen Waddle is what we want, and it is healthy. Waddle must be considered as a fringe WR1 that goes ahead.
Rico Downle Hand Bow Hero
After a solid season for the cowboys in 2024, Rico Downle signed with the Panthers this season outside of season to be the handcuffs of Chuba Hubbard. Dave Canales has always preferred to run back on who he can count in all facets, what Downle has proven.
With Hubbard with a calf injury, Downle got his first start for the Panthers, and you could not have asked for a better day. Downle was the workhorse of the Panthers and had a huge production. He played 67.1% of the snaps, earned 83.9% of the Backfield opportunities, ADN achieved 234 total yards and a touchdown on his way to 32.4 PPR points. Deejay Dallas did play in pure passing situations, but it was only for blocking purposes.
The question now for Rico Downle is what happens when Chuba Hubbard returns? Dave Canales normally wants a workhorse, but Dowpe has earned more opportunities. Hubbard’s job and opportunities, while healthy on merciless soil, and Downle is at least one of the best handcuffs in Fantasy Football.
Rachaad White vs. Sean Tucker
After an excellent week 4 performance we found out that Bucky Irving had to do with several injuries. Before week 5 we received news that Irving could be off for several weeks, giving Rachaad White and Sean Tucker the backfield of the Buccaneers man the Buccaneers. Tucker has always been an intriguing player, while White has a history of production and role. With the normal inefficiency of White as a runner, many thought that Tucker could play a greater role.
White still plays the more valuable role based on this week. He played 80.3% of the snaps and received 75% of the chances for Backfield. Tucker, on the other hand, only played 21.3% of the snaps and received 25% of the chances for Backfield. White also produced with his chances and went for 23.1 PPR points on the back of 2 touchdowns.
We don’t know how long Bucky Irving will be out, but several weeks is probably. As long as he is outside, Rachaad White is a Borderline RB1 and Sean Tucker is White’s handcuff.
Alvin Kamara’s shrinking role
Week 5 makes two weeks in a row where the role of Alvin Kamara has been taken, where Kendre Miller deserves more opportunities. I wrote about Miller last week and his upward trend went on until this week.
Kamara played 56.1% of Snaps, a new season low, while 56% of the opportunities got Backfield. Kamara is still the clear reception, but this was the first game in which he was arrested by Miller, 10 to eight. Moreover, Miller played in all short-yardage situations, which is a new development in the Achterveld. With his reduced role, Kamara was a disappointment for fantasy and scored less than 10 PPR points for the second time this season.
Before this season, despite the fact that Alvin Kamara was no longer in his prime for a few years, his role remained constant. That is no longer the case. A clear trend is happening in this rear field, which ensures a real distribution between Kamara and Kendre Miller. Do not count on Kamara to be a little more than a flex.
RJ Harvey fake out
In week 4 it seemed as if Harvey finally started to grow his role. He played 40.1% of the snaps and earned 50% of the Backfield opportunities, both of which were seasonal heights. A slow start of the season for a groan is not unheard of, and the growth was expected, so this seemed like Harvey’s Ascension at the start. However, yoke is on us. Sean Payton goes to Sean Payton.
The role of Harvey dived back in week 5. He only saw 22.3% of the Backfield opportunities at 20.3% of the snaps. Unfortunately, he was also unable to do a lot with his chances, with 30 total yards and scored 3.3 PPR points.
It is hard to believe that RJ Harvey will someday have a consistent role that we can become enthusiastic about this season. JK Dobbins continues to play well and Sean Payton is inserting Tyler Badie in the mix. You can’t start Harvey until an injury takes place or we see several games in a row of a valuable role.
The rear field of the cardinals
Week 5 brought more change for the backfield of the cardinals, because Trey Benson was surprisingly placed on IR in the middle of the week. Without a clear workhorse, a potential result was possible for the Achterveld. Before the competition, the coaching staff of the cardinals would not be committed to one person, and mentioned that all Emari Demercado, Michael Carter and Zonovan “Bam” Knight would have a role. That is exactly what happened.
Michael Carter was back in charge and received 73.3% of the chances for Backfield at 57.4% of the snaps. Demercado was the third back, played 27.9% of the snaps and earned 10% of the opportunities. Knight mixed at 16.2% of the snaps and received 16.7% of the opportunities. As a trio they performed well and scored 18.3, 6.1 and 9.4 PPR points respectively.
They all played, but the roles were clear. We can work with that. Michael Carter is the most valuable and can be seen as an RB3/Flex. Emari Demercado is a depth piece Flex/Bank depth. Bam Knight is not allowed to be roasted in anything else than the deepest competitions, because he needs an injury to have a valuable role.

Tyjae Spears’ Return
Returning a pre -season High ankle injury that landed on IR to start the season, Tyjae Spears made his debut from 2025 in week 5. Until now, Spears has been a complementary piece in the Achterveld of the Titans in his career, who mainly contributed as a passvanger. The hope for spears in 2025 was that he would grow into a greater role. After his first match, it seems that spears will be worked a bit slowly. Spears played only 25.4% of the snaps and got four carrys on the day and zero goals. Now we will have to see if his role is increasing, because there is reason to believe it will do that.
Tony Pollard has returned the Titans’s lead since he came to the team, and in the absence of Tyjae Spears he has been a workhorse, but he was unable to produce much. Spears can earn more opportunities if Pollard remains inefficient. You can’t start spearing now, but it is a nice depth piece to have on your couch.
Chris Godwin’s second game back
Chris Godwin returned to play from the ankle injury that ended his 2024 season in week 4 and played a surprising amount. Godwin ran 100% of the routes and earned a goal share of 25%. Unfortunately, however, he had difficulty producing. Godwin caught only three of his 10 goals for 26 scoreless yards. Week 5 was similar to Godwin, with 93.9% of the routes ran. This week, however, he only earned a target share of 12.1%. It is interesting that, although he only had four goals, he had the same production as in week 4, and catch three passes of 26 yards without a touchdown.
As long as Mike Evans is out, Chris Godwin will be every every player with Emeka Egbuka. However, that does not mean that he is someone you want for Fantasy Football. He is clearly still hindered by his injury and Egbuka is now the WR1 in the violation. When Evans returns, I would expect Godwin’s role to take. I don’t cut Godwin, but I don’t expect anything for the time being.
