Week 11 Fantasy Football Trading Advice
On the block: WR Jordan Addison, Minnesota Vikings
Reason to buy: Great ROS scheme
Jordan Addison is coming off his worst fantasy football performance of the season, scoring just 6.5 fantasy points in Week 10 despite seeing 11 goals. However, better times are likely to come as the schedule for the remainder of the Vikings’ season is fantasy-friendly for wide receivers. Starting in Week 14, Addison will play the Commanders, the Cowboys, the Giants and the Lions, all teams that have given up a lot of fantasy points for the wide receiver position. If you’re heading into the playoffs and are looking for a nice player to add to your lineup once you get there, this is a good buy-low opportunity to acquire Addison.
Reason for selling: JJ McCarthy struggles
Addison has been unable to reach double-digit fantasy points with JJ McCarthy under center. The second-year quarterback has played worse than Carson Wentz this season. While his development as a passer will likely continue, it’s hard to rely on development as you get closer to the fantasy playoffs. Averaging just 6.4 yards per attempt, McCarthy plays like a dink and dunk quarterback, which isn’t conducive to his receivers scoring fantasy points. Even with a better schedule on the horizon, McCarthy likely lacks the resources to exploit it. Selling Addison for a positive RB play that could be a league winner come playoff time could prove to be a wise move.
Nearby: RB TreVeyon Henderson, New England Patriots
Reason to buy: Potential competition winner
TreVeyon Henderson exploded last week, scoring 28 fantasy points and finishing as the RB4 this week. With Rhamondre Stevenson out for the past two weeks, Henderson has taken over the role of RB1 in New England, averaging 18 touches over the past two games. He has also averaged 20 fantasy points per game during this two-week test. It will be hard to put the cat back in the bag even if Stevenson returns. Buying high now could look like a league-winning move in the Patriots’ schedule for the rest of the season.
Reason for sale: Mike Vrabel and Rhamondre Stevenson
Despite selecting TreVeyon Henderson in the second round, the Patriots were reluctant to make him the focal point of the running game until Rhamondre Stevenson injured his toe and was forced to miss games. While Henderson has been excellent during Stevenson’s time away from the field, head coach Mike Vrabel could end up returning Stevenson as the starter when he returns from injury. A scenario in which Henderson and Rhamondre cancel each other out in committee would also hinder the league-winner narrative surrounding Henderson. If you’re looking from the outside in at a potential playoff run, it may make sense to sell high for a less volatile asset.

Nearby: RB Bucky Irving, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Reason to buy: Hopeful for a return to the play-offs
Bucky Irving injured his foot in Week 4 and has been out of action since. The Buccaneers declined to place him on injured reserve, suggesting he would be active before Week 8. However, we’re entering Week 11 here and Bucky Irving has yet to return. The Buccaneers have no reason to rush Irving back as they have a solid lead in the division. However, he makes a good speculative trade purchase for teams that are a lock for the fantasy playoffs, hoping he gets activated when playoff time comes. He’s also a good target for teams that need a real Hail Mary to make the playoffs. Irving averaged 18 fantasy points per game through the first four weeks of the season and will be a set-and-forget RB1 upon his return.
Reason for sale: no return schedule
Injuries can be ambiguous. Most teams have nothing to gain from being honest about public injuries. While Irving returned to practice today in a limited capacity it’s anyone’s guess when Irving will return to game action. Selling Irving now to get fantasy points could make sense for a team currently on the outside looking into the fantasy football playoffs.
