WR Jayden Higgins, Houston Texans
The Texans selected broad recipient Jayden Higgins with the 34th Pick in the NFL design of 2025, giving him a direct route to start from the first day in Houston. Tank Dell is injured and Christian Kirk will probably handle slot tasks, so the external position opposite Nico Collins is wide open on the way to the season.
Of Iowa State In 2024, Higgins earned a general figure of 90.5 pff, the best figure under FBS -wide receivers. He made 862 receiving yards (third most in the Big 12), 285 yards after the catch, six touchdowns and nine disputed catches.
If Higgins flashes in August, he could go from Camp -striking option to week 1. With a clear path to playing time and production of Elite College to support it, he is the type of Rookie under the radar that can swing on line-ups in the early season, especially if he quickly builds chemistry with Quarterback CJ Stroud.
RB Cam Skattebo, New York Giants
One of the most intriguing Backfield fights to view this preseason is set in New York, where Tyrone Tracy Jr. And Rookie Cam Skattebo compete for first team instructions.
Tracy treated a decent workload last season, but struggled with efficiency. Under running backs with 100-plus, he only carries 34th in PFF Rushing Grade (69.6) and on average only 2.8 yards after contact, also 34th-relevant figures for a player who hoped incoming competition.
The Giants selected Skattebo with the 105th general choice in the NFL design of 2025 after its dominant impressions at the university. He led the Big 12 in Rushing Yards (1,712), Yards after contact (1,202), Missed Tackles forced (103) and Pff Rushing Grade (94.6) last season. He was also a legitimate receiving weapon and captured 44 passes for 543 Yards on his way to a 79.8 pff reception grade.
With the overwhelming performance of Tracy and the giants of the giants who are restless, this preseason will be crucial to determine whether skattebo can appear as a legitimate fantasy option directly from the gate or is a player to avoid in Redraft competitions.
QB Shedeur Sanders & Dillon Gabriel, Cleveland Browns
All eyes are aimed at the Quarterback competition of the browns on the way to the preseason. Kenny Pickett In practice, a hamstring injury was and stands on an unknown return -time schedule, so Rookies Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel and Veteran Joe Flacco Duke it out.
For fantasy purposes we will concentrate on Sanders and Gabriel, because we know what Flacco is currently capable of in his career. Sanders earned a 91.4 PFF -passing degree over his last two lectures (second under FBS Quarterbacks), and Gabriel won an 81.2 mark in 2024 (fifth under Big Ten Quarterbacks).
Augustus will determine who takes the QB1 lane of the browns home, and with Pickett the Rookies of the team staring an important chance.
