Fantastic news for Ruben Amorim as positive injury update for Bruno Fernandes emerges – Man United news and transfer news | The People’s Person

A very encouraging fitness update has been given on Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes ahead of Friday’s clash with Newcastle.

Fernandes is struggling with an injury

Besides the disappointing 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa last weekend, the other major frustration was Fernandes’ injury.

The United midfielder retired with an injury in the latter stages of the first half, shortly after becoming the subject of an aggressive challenge from Amadou Onana. Fernandes was clearly uncomfortable when the game was temporarily halted to give him time.

He tried to continue, but it was clear he could go no further. Ruben Amorim took him off during the break and replaced him with Lisandro Martinez, who played the match alongside Manuel Ugarte in a largely unfamiliar midfield position.

After the match, Amorim confirmed that Fernandes had suffered a soft tissue problem. Amorim also indicated that Fernandes would be out for a while.

An update has now been published and it is positive.

According to the Daily mailThe 31-year-old’s injury is not as serious as initially feared and there are hopes he could be back within four weeks.

Fernandes injury update

The Daily Mail claims: “United are increasingly confident Fernandes’ hamstring injury is not too serious and their captain can return to action within a month.”

“Fernandes limped off at half-time from Sunday’s defeat to Aston Villa and now faces a rare spell on the sidelines during the busy festive period, but could even be in line for the Manchester derby on January 17.”

The paper claims that Mason Mount may need to fill a deeper role in midfield to provide creative inspiration in Fernandes’ absence.

On the plus side for Amorim, Casemiro – who missed the match against Villa due to suspension – will be available for Newcastle later this week.

United’s head coach could also call on the many midfield talents in the youth academy.
