Blackburn Rovers defender Sean McLoughlin put in a ‘fantastic’ performance against Ipswich Town on Tuesday night, says the Lancashire Telegraph reporter Elliott Jackson.
Blackburn Rovers drew 1-1 against the Tractor Boys in their last match Championship outing in Ewood Park. Rovers took the lead through Andri Gudjohnsen, after which the visitors equalized in injury time through Sindre Walle Egeli.
McLoughlin, 29, joined Lancashire from Hull City this summer. He signed an initial two-year contract that runs until June 2027. with the option of another twelve months on top of that.
Journalist Jackson was impressed by his performance against Ipswich Town and gave his verdict, according to a report from the newspaper Lancashire Telegraph: “Fantastic in the heart of the defense, covering the entire backline. Two headers came close from corners. 9/10.”
McLoughlin would see his contract with Hull City expire at the end of this season in June 2026. That’s why the Tigers cashed in on him to prevent him from disappearing on a free transfer next year.
He has become a fixture at the heart of Blackburn Rovers’ defense under Valerien Ismael. He has played sixteen league matches so far this season.

What next for Blackburn Rovers and Sean McLoughlin?
Blackburn Rovers’ McLoughlin has proven to be a useful option to call on. He is left-footed and can also play as a left-back if necessary, which is useful for Rovers.
Ismael will be frustrated that his team could not hold on to victory against Ipswich Town. They conceded late against the Tractor Boys, which wasn’t ideal.
Rovers are 18th in the table after their first 18 games. They are four points above the drop zone and eight points outside the play-offs.
They return to action this weekend with another match on their home ground against struggling Sheffield Wednesday as they look to get back to winning ways. Their upcoming opponents have won once under Henrik Pedersen so far and are in the relegation places along with Norwich City and Portsmouth.
