The Black will undoubtedly present a strict test with next week’s long -awaited collision between the Americans and Team Europe. But while Bethpage Black has not been deposited at earlier US OpenSs and PGA championships, it will be a bit more “open” at the Ryder Cup with Team USA participation in the course setup.
“The rough is not as it would be in an American PGA or a US Open that was played there earlier,” said Paul McGinley, who will serve as a strategic adviser to the European captain Luke Donald, while he is also part of the temporary employment team, said during a media conference on Wednesday. “The fairways are quite generous at the moment because they are soft.”
