Catching up with my internet besties for a little juice date.
Hello friends! How are you? I hope you’re having a great week so far! I’m back in homeschool and mom mode here after my trip, but looking forward to taking a hot yoga class this afternoon.
It’s been a while since we’ve had a juice date, so I’d love to talk about what’s going on and see what’s going on in your life! So grab your favorite drink and let’s catch up, okay?
If we were to drink juice right now…
I’d love to hear what you’ve been up to! Is falling crazy for you too? What will your kids be for Halloween? Any fall or holiday travel plans?
I have a trip to LA in a few weeks that I’m looking forward to, and we don’t have any other trips planned at the moment. (Side note: We’re hosting a meetup on November 13th, so if you’re in the Manhattan Beach area and would like to join us, let me know and I’ll send you the details!)
I always like to know when our next trip is happening – it gives me something to look forward to while I’m rushing, which I’ve heard is a trauma response but I ignore that – so I’m crossing my fingers that we can book a Disney cruise or something fun soon. The girls are begging to go to Korea and Japan, so I think this will be our next big trip after Liv graduates 8th grade. If you have any recs let me know!! This is completely new territory for me. (And Liv is a little baffled by the fact that we could have often lived in Korea before the military, but opted for other PCS top picks instead.)
For Halloween, Liv is a boxer with her girlfriend (cute workout clothes and boxing gloves) and P is one of those inflatable costumes that looks like an alien is wearing you. P turned 10 on Sunday and I can’t even believe it!
I’d like to know what you’ve been reading/watching/enjoying lately. I love this season of Dancing with the stars And The voice. I look DWTS with the kids – they like it too! – and The voice a few times a week while walking on the trail. I’m reading Frozen river right now – it’s intense and I’m enjoying it so far.
I’d like to hear how you’re doing… like how you’re doing Real doing. No fluff; the real thing. I can tell you that we are in an interesting season. We are still trying to navigate the pilot itinerary with my work and homeschooling. I also agree that homeschooling is great, but not always easy. I had such great ideas about all the field trips we would go on and the crafts we would do, but the reality is that by the time we get everything done and have lunch, I’m lucky to have one chore done and a few work tasks completed before we have to pick up Liv and head to the after-school activities/homework/dinner shuffle.
I know we will find our balance eventually. The good news is that she is doing well academically and the pilot is helping with things at school when he is in town. This is when I group client calls and podcast interviews. It was always meant to be a bridge – not a forever thing, unless that’s what it was supposed to be – and she starts saying she misses her friends from school. We’ll see what happens in the end, but we’re taking it day by day.
I just wanted to be honest, because online we see a lot of sourdough life on the farm, harvesting from the garden, collecting eggs, milking the cow, a romanticized version of homeschooling, but sometimes that’s not always the case. 😉
I’d like to tell you about the Reimagining Health Summit and how excited I feel after it. These types of conferences always light a fire in my soul, but this one was especially impactful. I’m truly honored to have been chosen to speak on the Health Coach Expert panel with some of my closest Integrative Health Practitioner friends (and women I admire so much), and thanks to your amazing support, I was ranked #7 out of over 5,000 IHPs in sales for our 100-day challenge. (I was number 7 last year too!) I feel a push for the next step and what I need to do, and I’m excited to see how it unfolds. Years ago when I met Dr. Cabral for my podcast for the first time, I knew he was creating something truly amazing, and I’m beyond excited to be a small part of the EquiLife And IHPs.
I would also like to ask you about your thoughts on peptides, especially GLP-1/GIP. I know this can be an intense topic, but I’m always curious about what my friends think about all things health/wellness. I have always loved certain peptides and their abilities – such as collagen peptides, the OneSkin products I take glutathione and NAD+ every day, but I was a hard no to GLP-1s for a long time. I’ve learned more and changed my mind, especially when it comes to microdosing.
As far as I know, there are no major studies on microdosing; GLP-1s have been around for a long time, but the related studies have been based on larger, therapeutic doses. Quite a few health experts I trust have talked about the benefits of microdosing for longevity.
If I end up trying it, I’ll be sure to report it, as I’ve heard it can be beneficial for blood sugar, inflammation (I’m feeling extra inflamed right now), and perimenopause. I don’t think you should have to depend on these things – and that you should test to see what underlying imbalances arise – but it can potentially be a useful lever if you feel stuck.
I’d love to know if you’ve tried any good recipes lately and what you’re making tonight. I made this beef bowl for the first time about a month ago, and the girls ask for it quite often. It’s so good and satisfying! I also started adding artichokes. The sauce + beef and vegetable mixture is amazing.
I would also ask if you would share some gluten-free treats with me 😉
Thanks for catching up today, friends, and for being here. Have a nice day and I’ll see you soon!
xo
