Fairmount Park Casino & Racing saw a plethora of upgrades in 2025 under new owner Accel Entertainment, and they won’t be slowing down any time soon in 2026. In the new year, Fairmount Park General Manager Vince Gabbert plans to continue expanding the offering in all aspects, including the on-track product, concessions, the casino, facilities and more.

Gabbert said Fairmount Park took the lead as the top horse racing track in the state of Illinois in 2025, and the track product will continue to improve in 2026. The addition of an on-site casino last year increased revenue that went directly into racing pockets, attracting a larger field and big-name trainers to compete on the track.

“Purses will continue to rise as casino revenues increase this year,” Gabbert said. “As our wallets continue to grow, our product will be greatly improved and really stand out on the national landscape because of who comes to Fairmount. We are also replacing the indoor rail at our track, creating a safer environment for our jockeys and horses. We are making repairs to stables and even considering building new ones so that more owners and trainers can bring their horses for the season. It’s great to see how far we’ve come in just one year on the track.”

Fairmount Park’s offerings also grew off the track in 2025. Longshots, a premier country-western barbecue restaurant and bar, opened in the park. Improved concessions and new dining options greeted fans on race days, and maintenance was performed across the track. In 2026, Fairmount Park will further strengthen its concession stands in terms of efficiency and quality of service, along with the reopening of food service in the clubhouse.

“We are also currently adding table games to the casino floor,” Gabbert said. “When we first opened the casino, we only had electronic table games, but we are bringing real table games into the picture. Our casino is currently in a temporary location, but we will make an announcement on the permanent casino building soon. There are many exciting things in the works at Fairmount Park.”

The casino and Longshots are open year-round in Fairmount Park, giving St. Louis and Metro East residents a fun outing no matter the time of year. The racing season is just around the corner and the horses will take to the track in April.
