In the headline attraction, Justin Gaethje proved he was still at the head of the pack at lightweight by thoroughly dismantling Paddy Pimblett to claim interim gold. In the co-main event, Sean O’Malley dug deep to come out on top with a comeback win over the streaking Song Yadong.
Now let’s take a look at some interesting post-event tidbits about the UFC 324 main card.
UFC 324: Jean Silva def. Arnold Allen
Jean Silva
Silva’s victory over Arnold Allen at UFC 324 marks the first time he has seen the scorecards, win or lose, since his victory over Kevin Vallejos on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2023. He has now won two fights as a professional via judge’s nod in his 20-fight career.
Silva’s 74 key strikes on Allen were also the most he had collected in a year single UFC match.
Arnold Allen
Allen’s decision loss to Jean Silva marked the fourth time he has fallen into the hands of the judge. His appearance at UFC 324 also marked his third consecutive appearance in a numbered promotional event.
In his match with Silva, he absorbed the second most hits he had landed in a fight with the UFC, behind only his encounter with Max Holloway in 2023, where he received more than 140.
UFC 324: Natalia Silva Final Rose Namajunas
Natalia Silva
Silva’s victory over Namajunas at UFC 324 marks her 20th win as a professional. It is also her third consecutive victory over a former champion, with the other two being Jéssica Andrade and Alexa Grasso.
She has now won five tilts in a row by decision
Rose Namajunas
Namajunas’ loss to Silva dropped her out of the winner’s circle after previously beating Miranda Maverick last summer. Coincidentally, it was also the first time she had lost to a Brazilian opponent since her knockout setback against Andrade in 2019 at UFC 237, where she attempted to defend her strawweight belt for the second time.
Her flyweight record now stands at 3-3
UFC 324: Waldo Cortes-Acosta def. Derrick Lewis
Waldo Cortes-Acosta
Cortes-Acosta’s victory over Derrick Lewis at UFC 324 was his third straight victory since losing to Sergei Pavlovich at UFC Fight Night 257. It was also his third consecutive triumph by strike, having previously defeated both Ante Delija and Shamil Gaziev.
Ten of his seventeen victories as a professional have now come via stoppage.
Derrick Lewis
Lewis’ loss to Cortes-Acosta was his first defeat since 2023 after two victories over Rodrigo Nascimento and Tallison Teixeira. It is also the first time he has faced a non-Brazilian opponent in his last five fights.
He has now lost eight times as a professional by knockout. His UFC record now stands at 20-11.
UFC 324: Sean O’Malley def. Song Yadong
Sean O’Malley
O’Malley’s victory over Yadong ended a two-match losing streak dating back to September 2024, following two consecutive defeats to Merab Dvalishvili. His appearance at UFC 324 was also his 14th straight bout on a numbered card.
His UFC record now stands at 11-3
Song Yadong
UFC 324 marked the first time he fought in Las Vegas since his main event clash with Chris Gutiérrez at UFC Fight Night 233. So are his three recorded takedowns on O’Malley the most he has landed in an organizational upheaval.
He is now 3-2 in his last five fights
UFC324: Justin slave Certainly. Paddy Pimblett
Justin slave
Slaves win over Pimblett earned him the interim lightweight title, becoming the first fighter to accomplish the feat in the UFC. He also became the only person to score two interim titles in the promotion’s history. He is now the oldest man to capture any form of 155-pound gold in the UFC.
Including his BMF Championship bouts, “The Highlight” has fought for a corporate title six times at UFC 324.
Paddy Pimblett
Pimblett’s loss to Gaethje is his first setback since 2018, ending his previous nine-match win streak. It is also his first defeat in the promotion.
The 144 key strikes he endured at UFC 324 were more than in his last three trips combined to the cage.
