Fans of Liverpool saw Thiago Alcantara bring Elegance in midfield during his four years, but injuries meant that we never really enjoyed his best years.
Now the former Spain International is preparing for a new chapter in coaching, in which Fabrizio Romano confirms that he will join Barcelona again as part of Hansi Flick’s staff.
Thiago joins Barcelona Coaching Staff after retirement in Liverpool
Romano explained on his YouTube channel: “Thiago Alcantara, former Barca, Bayern Munich, Liverpool -midfielder is ready to join Barcelona in the staff of Hansi Flick.
“Everything has been agreed, verbal agreement is made, contracts are drawn up.”
The Italian reporter added that Thiago “Strong wanted this opportunity to learn from Hansi Flick” And that the German coach “Strong wanted Thiago with him again because Thiago had been part of the staff for a few months last year.”
After his retirement at the end of the 2023/24 campaign, our former No. 6 took the immediate step to connect the staff of Flick in Barcelona in the short term.
Since then, the 34-year-old has been living in Merseyside due to tax complications after the termination of his Liverpool contract.
That situation has now been resolved and the road is cleared for a move back to Catalonia.
Can Thiago return to Anfield as a coach on a day?
Thiago’s time in Liverpool was plagued by injuries, which limited only 98 performances in total. It was a frustrating saying, but the midfielder still showed flashes of sparkle under Jurgen Klopp.
Given his tactical spirit and reputation as a “Football man”As Romano described him, some will of course hope that one day he could come back to the coaching side.
For now, however, he seems determined to gain experience alongside Flick, who managed him in Bayern Munich.
Liverpool has already reformed the staff, with the addition of Giovanni van Bronckhorst this season, but seeing Thiago to coaching could mean that he will return to Anfield one day.
