Adriana Mendiola is the designer of ring girl outfits that constantly steal the show. This weekend she outfits the models for Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua on Netflix. She also dresses Carla Jade for her Misfits title fight. Before that, she made the infamous outfits for Sydney Thomas and Lexi Williams at the Paul vs. Mike Tyson event – and they went viral. The work has turned her into someone boxing promoters can’t ignore.
The designer behind the ring girls: a glimpse into Adriana Mendiola’s fashion vision
She grew up watching her family work. “I am originally from Salina, Kansas, and come from a family of women (my mother, sister, and relatives) who are seamstresses and designers. Watching them create has taught me resilience, discipline, and pride in craftsmanship,” she explained, and began designing when she was just seven years old.
“I started creating designs when I was about seven years old. Fashion became my way to guide and express myself. That foundation, combined with my experience as a technical designer for major activewear and lingerie brands, has given me a deep understanding of construction and impeccable fit… My love for performance fashion, combined with training in boxing and Muay Thai with my brother has pushed me to go my own way and develop a signature that is daring, feminine and unmistakable.
Adriana Mendiola: the designer who changes the visual game of boxing
Mendiola worked as a technical designer for major activewear and lingerie brands. That experience taught her fit and construction in ways most fashion designers never learn. But she wanted something different. “I design for presence: pieces that command a room, increase confidence and hold their own on the biggest stages in the world,” she explained.

The ring girls’ work clicked because it aligned with how she thinks. She trained with her brother in boxing and Muay Thai. She knows what athletes are need. The designs work from all angles on camera for millions of people. They move. They breathe. They don’t fall apart.

When Sydney Thomas and Lexi Williams walked past ringside, the internet took notice. Their outfits were trendy. People talked more about the clothes than the actual fighting. That feedback is important to her. “It’s incredibly affirming, surreal and humbling. The ring is one of the most visible stages in the world, and the fact that my designs consistently become part of the conversation means everything,” she said. “I design for impact – silhouettes that are strong, sexy and unforgettable – so when I see how the looks trend and continue to be referenced around the world, I know the work will end up exactly where it was intended. It motivates me to keep raising the visual standard.”

The black and red palette of the Tyson fight was not random. “Inspired by the visual language of Netflix, the black and red palette for the Paul-Tyson fight was chosen for its intensity and power. The color combination has a great impact and amplifies the energy of the audience,” she explained.

For this weekend’s Misfits event, Mendiola has taken Carla Jade’s fighting kit in a different direction. “For Saturday’s Misfits fight, Carla Jade’s equipment and ring girl uniform are inspired by her gloves and femme color palette. I wanted to create something that truly lived up to its title, ‘Queen of Misfits’ – elevated with rhinestone embellishments and custom embroidery, while remaining fully functional, with elements of performance activewear.”
She has also worked outside the ring. She dressed dancers Summer hiker’s tour. “I worked closely with her stylist. I created the silver looks for the male dancers, one of the pink chrome female dancer looks, and with the help of my team, placed thousands of rhinestones on Summer’s final tour look. Seeing it all come together on stage was truly rewarding. It felt true to her world,” she said.
Mendiola’s philosophy remains simple: “My overall design aesthetic is sharp, feminine and unapologetically impressive.”
