The battle between the PCB and the International Cricket Council (ICC) lasted for weeks. Even after the start of the tournament, there was uncertainty surrounding the much-awaited match. ICC rejected the Bangladesh cricket team from the flagship tournament after they refused to travel to India, citing ‘security concerns’. ICC issued an ultimatum to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to reconsider their position. But the BCB officials remained firm on their stand. As a result, ICC threw them out of the tournament.

Following the expulsion of the Bangladesh cricket team, Mohsin Naqvi, PCB chief and Pakistan’s Home Minister, threatened to boycott their association with India, followed by the government’s official announcement.

Former Pakistan cricket wants to see rain during the match

Through a social media post, the Government of Pakistan confirmed that Pakistan will play in the 2026 T20 World Cup but will not take the field against India on February 15 in Colombo.
