Everton agree to take over Tyrique George from Chelsea

Everton have reached an agreement in principle on the transfer of Chelsea left winger Tyrique George to the Hill Dickinson Stadium. David Ornstein.

George is one of the success stories of Chelsea’s ever-expanding Cobham Academy talent factory.

Remember new hair

He made his first-team debut under former coach Enzo Maresca in the 2–1 defeat to Servette in the Conference League play-off round on 29 August 2024.

His first goal came memorably against Fulham on April 20, making him the Blues’ youngest goalscorer in the competition at 19 years and 75 days since Callum Hudson-Odoi scored against Burnley in January 2020.

However, George’s role has been significantly reduced this season, understandably after he was reportedly on the verge of leaving last summer following the signings of Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho.

Despite his limited role, the youngster produced 12 goals in 37 appearances for the club and was tipped for a breakthrough this season.

With opportunities at the Bridge scarce, several clubs have shown interest in the youngster, but it now appears that Everton have won the race to sign him.

According to David OrnsteinEverton have reached an agreement with Chelsea for the transfer of George to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Pending official confirmation, the deal is for a proposed six-month move with an option to buy him permanently in the summer, the report said.

The renowned transfer expert adds that the England U21 international will now be allowed to travel to Merseyside to undergo medical formalities and put pen to paper as the new Everton player.

The Toffees have a long history of loaning players from Chelsea, with Kurt Zouma, Armando Broja and Romelu Lukaku all making the move in the past. Lukaku’s spell proved the most memorable as his temporary stay became permanent in 2014, before he scored 68 Premier League goals in 141 games.

George, valued at £18 million by Transfer marketcould be the next name to follow that path, offering the Toffees a sensible loan solution after registering 12 goals in Chelsea colours, a return that underlines his abilities at the highest level.

With Jack Grealish on the sidelines for an extended period due to injury, the 19-year-old would give David Moyes plenty of attacking options to provide depth and completion as his side continue their ambitious European pursuit.
