Tom Pollack came in this armor racial season with high expectations of Ervin Hanover (Donating), and the 5-year-old Pacing stallion has done its best to meet the expectations of his owner, especially in the past two months.
Ervin Hanover has posted five wins and a second in his six starts since the calendar turned until August, with the only setback that came through a head in the final of the Canadian Pacing Derby of the grade 1. He won his two most recent trips-het Grade 2 Jim Ewart Memorial in Eldo Infor-Ballsall Park-in 1: 47.2, which is bound for the third fastest digit of the season by an older pacer. His $ 412,218 in seasonal income is also third among older pacers in North America.
On Saturday, the son of Donating-Eloquent Grace goes to the $ 250,000 grade 2 Dayton Pacing Derby on Hollywood Dayton Raceway as the 5-2 morning line favorite in a field of nine that brings the winners of the four most recent Graded Stakes of the Sport together for older male Pacers: PACING PACING, MAXIMUS PACING, MAXIMUS, MAXUSUS, MAXUSUS, PACING, PACINGIUS, PACINGIUS, PACINGUSIUSUUSUUSUSUSUSUANUS, PACINGUINUINUINUSUINUINUINUSUSIUSIUSIUSUINUINUINUINUSUINUINUINUINUIN BARINGIN, PACINGIN) Derby) and Captain Albano (Aria Invitational).
Post time in the first race is 6.30 pm (EDT) for a map that also includes the degree 2 Dayton Distaff Derby, with Twin B Joe Fresh and Sylvia Hanover on 3-5 and 9-5 respectively, on the morning line; Grade 2 Dayton that runs derby, with a 9-5 morning rule Chalk Lexus Kody; And grade 1 dayton oaks derby, with 2-1 morning-line choice MM’s dream.
“He found his groove,” said Pollack about Ernin Hanover. “We cut our work for us (Saturday) because there are other sharp horses in that race, but hopefully he appears and puts his best foot forward again. We are enthusiastic.”
Ervin Hanover was a winner of several bets at the age of 2 and 3 for trainer Ron Burke, who took eight victories in 33 Starts and earned $ 355,300 before Pollack bought him at the end of his second season. Last year at the age of 4 -Ervin Hanover won eight out of 25 races and brought $ 106,267. He closed his campaign in a high tone, with four consecutive victories in Woodbine Mohawk Park, including a score of 1: 47.3 in a preference in mid -November.
This season, Ervin Hanover became second in the Camluck Classic and added a victory in Mohawk before Off-the-Board Finishes in the Dave Brower Memorial (Fifth), William R. Haughton Memorial (Sixth) and Joe Gerrary Jr. Memorial (fourth) preceded his current Hot Streak.
“He stood out a bit because he would perform every now and then and go a big mile,” said Pollack about his first interest in acquiring Ervin Hanover. “At that time he was not the most consistent horse, but he showed a glimpse of, wow, he can really go with the top. We could never predict whether he would become a large circuit horse, but he would certainly fit our program to buy good horses and racing and opening in the top conditions. We took a shot.
“His 4-year year was up and down, like many horses, and when he came out last winter and he was. That is cool. Then we started to get really enthusiastic about him. At the beginning of this season he had a number of tough journeys and he might have been as sharp as he was in the winter when we set him up. But he went back to Canada and has been relieving it since then.”
Ervin Hanover starts the Dayton Pacing Derby of Post Four with Louis-Philippe Roy in the Sulky for trainer Dave Menary.
“Thanks to Dave and his team for doing such a good job with him, managing him and having him ready to race every start,” said Pollack. “(Ervin Hanover’s) versatility and his consistency are two biggest attributes. He can go around any song, he appears every week. It is a competitive group and he has been there with them.”
Maximus Miki, the 7-2 second choice in the Dayton Pacing Derby, departs from post three with Scott Zeron who drives for trainer Tom Cancelliere. Kapitein Albano, who is 9-2, starts from post two with Todd McCarthy in the Sulky for trainer Noel Daley.
