Following the judgment in the Pollachi case of Pollachi sexual abuse of Pollachi, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and opposition leader Edappadi K Palanisamy collided on social media.

In a post on X, Stalin expressed his satisfaction with the verdict, but also took a jibe among certain people who reportedly tried to protect the perpetrators. “Justice is served for the atrocities committed by criminals, including the malignant Aiadmk Office carrier. Those ‘Sirs’ who tried to protect the tent, which also included an Aiadmk offender, should hang their heads in shame,” he wrote.

On Tuesday, Coimbatore Mahila Court condemned nine accused in the case to life imprisonment after the CBI had led the investigation. The case, involving eight victims, was generally discussed as the accused, including an AIADMK office bearer, was found guilty of horrible crimes.

The case came to light when Aiadmk was in power in the state.

The verdict was celebrated by DMK supporters in Pollachi, who cracked crackers, spread sweets and raised slogans against Aiadmk, while held pictures of one of the convicts next to a senior Aiadmk leader.

Edappadi K Palanisamy, however, responded to the function of Stalin by wondering who arrested the ‘malignant gang’ and emphasized that he had ordered the CBI investigation and had raised the safety of women under the current regime.

“No attempt was made to protect the accused, in contrast to the case of a ‘DMK’ sympathizant. I was ordered neutral for a CBI examination and justice was served. Do not try to bring in your ‘sticker’ as usual,” tweeted Palanisamy.

The AIADMK leader further criticized Stalin and stated: ‘You must be ashamed because you are unable to investigate the minister and vice mayor who was Biryani and ate the residence of accused Gnanasekaran in the Anna University sexual attack case.

Kanimozhi, DMK’s Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament, however, defended the leadership of Stalin in response to Palanisamy’s comments.

She claimed that AIADMK had not taken appropriate measures during the Pollachi case. “They did not register and only worried about protecting the perpetrators. It was only after the opposition and the media had fought together that a case had been submitted. We demanded that the case was transferred to the CBI because the audience did not trust them,” she said.

“People believe today in MK Stalin, while ordering action once a crime had taken place, regardless of party relationships,” added Kanimozhi.
