Built in 1935, the Claremont House -Huis van Erindale came on the market for the first time in 22 years, giving you the chance to lead a life of luxury and thereby breaking a suburb.
Sellers Chris Currie, 72, and husband Ian, 78, reduce after more than two decades in the building, with good and really their mark on the Grand Mansion that they bought the Zamel family – owners of the Zamel’s jeweler franchise.
“The father of Elizabeth Tolley built the house in 1935 and her mother was English and wanted a typical Tudor house, so she designed it all and then her and the young Elizabeth went back to England, and she thought she would come back to this Tudor house after about 18 months,” said Mrs. Currie.

This is a home that does not go for a song.
“But in the time she was gone, her husband went to Singapore and fell in love with the architecture there and came back and changed it and started to build this Art Deco house with a Singapore – flair with large windows and lots of light came in – the complete opposite of a Tudor – so she came back to this house that she thought she was returning.
“Elizabeth, who was then 12, moved to the house and later married winemaker David Tolley and brought her children here and they all lived in the house and when she got older, she moved next door.”
The retired couple, which in the past run a printing company, have bred cattle in the southeast and have developed real estate on the Sunshine Coast, has since renovated the building, expanded and retained the piece of history that they feel privileged to have been keen of.
