EPFO introduces Passbook Lite for fast PF balance control and faster claims
- Launch date – EPFO introduced Passbook Lite in September 2025.
- User range – This service is made for more than 7 crore (70 million) members throughout India.
- Goal – The goal is to make members easy to quickly control their PF balance and to reduce the tax on old systems.
Important functions
- Log in -You can now see your PF balance, contributions and recordings directly from the most important EPFO member portal, without opening a separate Passbook website.
- Fast tax -The Lite version opens faster, even on slow internet or cheap mobile phones, because they avoid heavy images.
- Full option – If you want detailed records, graphs or annual data, the old full passbook option is still available.
Transfer certificate
- APPENDIX K -Members can now download this PF transfer certificate (Appendix K) in PDF layout directly from the portal. Earlier it was only shared between offices.
- Easy Tracking – With Appendix K you can easily check whether your PF balance has been correctly shifted when you change jobs.
- Permanent record -This document is useful for keeping track of long -term records and for pension calculation under EPS.

- Delegated authority -EPFO has allowed officers at a lower level to approve many claim -related activities that were previously only managed by high officials.
- Quick settlement – This change helps members get their PF money, progress or reimbursements faster without long waiting times.
- Local accountability – Local offices can now handle directly approvals, making the entire process smoother and less stressful.
