EHL for women
The top two met in Women’s Division One North and Gloucester City remain one point ahead of Buckingham after a 2-2 draw. Sally Walton and Jess Roe had given Gloucester a 2-0 lead at half-time, but Buckingham fought back in the second half with goals from Rebecca van Arrowsmith and Jo Day. Gloucester remain undefeated. Loughborough Students 2s join Buckingham on 10 points thanks to a 4-0 win over Olton & West Warwicks, with Kirby Harris scoring two of their goals. Olton are now bottom, while the previous incumbent, Ben Rhydding, moved up to seventh thanks to a 3-1 win over Repton. Leeds recorded a nice 6-3 victory over Sutton Coldfield.
Exeter University have now moved clear of Reading 2s on goal difference at the top of Division One South after winning both at the weekend and previous leaders Holcombe losing. Exeter won 4-0 at Guildford with four different players on the scoresheet. Reading had a closer game at Sevenoaks, running out 3-2 winners thanks to a 66th minute winner from Jemima Tulloch. Holcombe suffered their first defeat of the campaign, losing 3–2 at Bristol Firebrands. Firebrands fought back from 2-0 down to win the match with second half goals from Lucy Prickett and two for Maria Andrews, the second an extra-time corner for the winner. Teddington and Surbiton 2s drew 1-1 and Southgate won 2-0 at Harleston Magpies, who are winless at the foot of the table.
Cardiff & Met achieved five wins out of five to remain top of the Conference West. Ella Bradley scored the only goal of the match in a 1-0 against Clifton Robinsons 2. They are two points ahead of Team Bath Buccaneers who won 3-1 at Exeter. Oxford University is two points further after a 1-1 draw against Cheltenham. The match between Lansdown and Marlow ended on a similar note with Amy Sheehan scoring twice against Slough, one of her previous teams, in Trojan’s 2-0 win. Slough remains at the bottom.
Alderley Edge led Bowdon 2s in Conference North with both teams maintaining their 100% start to the campaign with 4-0 wins. Alderley Edge’s success came in Wakefield, Bowdon’s at home in Sheffield. Newcastle University moved into third place, three points behind the leaders after a six-point weekend. They beat bottom of the table Kirkby Stephen 2-1 on Saturday and won 3-1 at Fylde in Sunday’s rearranged game. Fylde rose in the league on Saturday by beating Durham University 3-1. Whitley Bay & Tynemouth won 5-1 at Didsbury Northern.
Things remain tight at the top of Conference Midlands, with just one point separating the teams from first to fifth as all those teams’ matches ended in draws. Leaders St Albans, who are one point ahead, drew 1-1 with fifth-placed Birmingham University 2s. Cambridge City retained second place after a 2-2 draw at Cannock and the 4th v 3rd match between Cambridge University and Leicester City ended 1-1. Stourport defeated Oxford Hawks 2-1 and there was a first win for Nottingham Trent University, 4-2 against Harleston Magpies 2s, who are yet to pick up a point.
There was a turnaround at the top of the Conference East with previous leaders London Wayfarers losing 1-0 to Spencer. This result means Old Loughtonians go top after their 3-2 win over Hampstead & Westminster, where they were level on points going into Saturday’s matches. Wayfarers are now third, one point behind Spencer. The bottom two, Guildford 2s and Wapping played out a 1-1 draw. Barnes 2s claimed their first win, 1-0 against Old Georgians and Wimbledon 2s defeated Canterbury 4-1.

Open/Men EHL
There was a significant change at the top of Open/Men’s Division One South, with previous leaders Exeter University losing their 100% record to a 4-0 loss to third-placed Guildford, for whom William Tristem scored all four goals. This allowed India’s Gymkhana, 4-1 winners in Canterbury, to take over top spot. Sevenoaks are fourth thanks to their 3-2 win over Havant, despite a late comeback from 3-0 down for the home side with two goals from Viacheslav Paziuk. Havant are bottom without a point, Surbiton 2s are one point and one place above them after their 2-1 defeat at Teddington. Old Loughtonians and Richmond drew 3-3, with the home side coming back from 3-0 down after 22 minutes, after Scott Wall scored two of Richmond’s goals.
Repton made it five of five wins in Division One North with a 6-0 defeat to Deeside Ramblers, including braces for Si Claris and Sam Cossey. Loughborough Students remain two points behind after their 4-2 win over Olton & West Warwicks. In third place Bowdon secured a narrow 1-0 win in their Cheshire derby over ninth-placed Timperley. Among them, Birmingham University picked up their first point in a 2–2 draw at Nottingham University, with Harvey Edwards scoring both goals. It was the same score in the Durham University – Harborne match where Durham scored twice in the last 10 minutes to secure a point.
The top two met in Conference North and a 2-2 draw means Leeds and Neston remain level on points with the Yorkshire side ahead on goal difference. The results allowed Doncaster to make up ground to move within three points of third place, thanks to a 5-0 win over Durham University 2s. Lindum and Didsbury Northern are one point ahead after away wins this weekend. Lindum 2-1 at Sheffield, Didsbury 2-0 bottom of the table Oxton. A hat-trick from Will Musgrave helped Ben Rhydding to a 3-2 success at Newcastle University.
Only one match was decided by more than one goal in the Conference West this weekend. Leader Chichester was 3-3 at Isca, but needed two goals in the last five minutes to take the point. Clifton Robinsons drew level with Chichester thanks to a 5-2 defeat to Exeter University 2s, including a hat-trick for Ben Shardlow. Ashmoor remain third, one point back, thanks to their 3-2 win against Bristol University. Patrick McElhinney hit a 69th minute winner for Team Bath Buccaneers against Cardiff & Met 2s with the match finishing 2–1. Marlow beat Fareham 3–1 and moved from the foot of the table to sixth place.
The top two entering the weekend’s games both lost and saw new leaders in the Conference East. Old Cranleighan, who were top, were beaten 1-2 by Bromley & Beckenham who moved into second place, while Chelmsford, who finished second, were beaten 7-1 at home by Holcombe 2s, with Trevor de Lora netting a hat-trick for the visitors. Hampstead & Westminster 2s are top on goal difference thanks to their 4-1 defeat to Southgate 2s. Third-placed London Wayfarers are the only undefeated team in the Division, winning 5-3 at Spencer with doubles for Ben McGeoch and Jerry Smith. Two goals from James Evans helped Wimbledon 2s to a 3-0 win over Brighton & Hove, meaning they move three points clear of the Sussex side at the foot of the table.
Leek remain top of the Conference Midlands after a 3-2 win against City of Peterborough. Benjamin Topley scored from an extra-time corner to win the match for Leek, who saw a number of teams close to them drop points. St Albans, drop from second to third place. They remain unbeaten but were held to a 4-4 draw by Birmingham University 2s. Saints had turned a 2-0 deficit into 4-2 with eight minutes remaining before Birmingham recovered late on. Nottingham University 2s lost 4-1 in Banbury. Oxford Hawks took advantage of this and moved into second place thanks to their 3-1 win in Stourport. There was a first point for Barford Tigers at the bottom of the table in a 2-2 draw against Norwich City.
