It is a sad day around the world for fans of Chicago Cubs. After 14 seasons in the major competitions, former Cubs and New York Yankees are first Honkman Anthony Rizzo retired.
Rizzo will retire on Saturday and throws away the ceremonial first throw. Early Saturday too, rizzo is set to participate The organization of Chicago as an ambassador for the franchise.
Rizzo spent almost 10 of his 14 seasons with the Cubs, and his term of office there is one of the best of all time. Rizzo was an All-Star three times, won four golden gloves and finished in the top five in MVP voices over two separate occasions. The biggest achievement of all, however, was undoubtedly the man who reached the final from the World Series 2016 and the 108-year-old drought for Chicago breakthrough.
What is the next step for Anthony Rizzo?
As we have noticed above, Rizzo is celebrated on Saturday on Wigley Field before he starts his role as an ambassador. Most Cubs fans would agree that there is no longer a former player perfect for that role than Rizzo.
In addition to the large Ryne Sandberg, Rizzo embodies what it means to play more for such a proud organization than anyone and perhaps ever. He will undoubtedly succeed in his new role in the organization, and it is appropriate that he immediately went back home to the place that meant so much for his play career.
