Emma Raducanu has added the former coach Francisco Roig van Rafael Nadal Nadal full -time to her team before the US Open the US Open is understood this month of this month.
The winner of 2021 at Flushing Meadows has worked informally with British coach Mark Petchey since March and enjoyed a positive series of results. However, Petchey’s TV obligations meant that he was always unable to become the full-time coach of Raducanu and after a process with Roig after Wimbledon, the 22-year-old will work with him in Cincinnati this week. He agreed a contract until the end of 2025.
In recent years, Raducanu has difficulty setting up with a coach until her part -time work with Petchey began to pay dividends earlier this season. A WTA 1000 quarter -final in the Miami Open in March was followed by a last 16 run on the Italian open before she made the last eight in the first ladies’ tournament in Queen’s Club.
Aryna Sabalenka turned out to be too strong for Raducanu in round three in Wimbledon, but this was supported by a semi -final at the Citi Open, because the British No. 1 goals were sown later this month on the US Open. Petchey, who worked with Andy Murray at the start of his career, revealed in July that Raducanu should soon find a full -time coach and she found that in Roig.
The Spanish coach collaborated with Nadal in addition to the Uncle Toni van Nadal for the most of the career of the 22-way Grand Slam Champion and more recently was part of the back room staff of Matteo Berrettini.
Raducanu stays close to Petchey, but focuses her focus back to the rise of the WTA ranking with a strong representation in the Cincinnati Open in the next fourteen days.
Djokovic pulls itself open from Cincinnati
Novak Djokovic will enter the US Open without playing in heat tournaments after he had withdrawn the Cincinnati Open.
Djokovic has not played since an extensive loss of straight sets for Jannik Sinner in the semi -final of Wimbledon on July 11.
The 24-way Grand SLAM champion struggled with a left-hand dij injury during his one-sided defeat in the All England Club and after he had missed the Toronto Masters, the Serbian will now still be open an ATP 1000 event in the form of the Cincinnati.
After he was recorded on the original acceptance list, a updated version on Monday showed Djokovic as withdrawal. The next time Djokovic is expected to return to action in the US Open Mixed Doubles will be after he worked with Olga Danilov
