Emile Heskey has said he would like Liverpool to sign RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande because of the ‘unpredictability’ he offers.

Last month, Caught offside reported that the Reds have the ‘strongest’ interest of the many clubs linked with the 19-year-old, who has previously stated he is a boyhood fan of the Merseysie giants.

Bundesliga insider Christian Falk has claimed that Anfield bosses have ‘thoughts’ about a potential €100m move for the Ivory Coast international and could even make an offer to the Red Bull-owned club in the coming weeks, despite the transfer market now being closed until the summer.

Heskey advocates Liverpool signing Diomande

Speak with Ace oddsHeskey was asked if he thinks Diomande should be a key target for Liverpool in the coming months, and his answer was very affirmative.

The former Reds striker said: “Someone like Yan Diomande gives you that unpredictability and runs behind and creates opportunities. The thing with Diomande is that you can also put him up front.”

“Defenders don’t like it when players are behind all the time, and he does that because he is a winger.

“These are the things that I think the attackers have lost a little bit. In general, they don’t want to get involved in the game now. They want to wait in the penalty area, but we need those players, especially afterwards.” [Luis] Diaz left.

“The defenders should take two steps back when playing against Diomande, which will create more space, and then other players can produce more.”

Diomande could breathe new life into Liverpool’s much-criticised attack

During a frustrating series of draws in January, John Aldridge was among those who criticized Liverpool’s attacking play for being too heavy, with the opposition defense easily dealing with the Reds’ forward threat as long as they were well organised.

While scoring ten goals in our last two games has been a welcome change, it will take more than a few games before skeptics are convinced that Arne Slot’s team has transformed into an unstoppable force of nature in attack.

With his ‘fast feet and pace to burn’ (Bundesliga.com), Diomande could be exactly the kind of player who can unseat Kopites and leave them running with anticipation every time he gets the ball – similar to the excitement Rio Ngumoha has generated so far in his young first-team career.

The RB Leipzig winger also offers substance to suit his style, with eight goals and six assists in 21 games this season, and can switch between the left and right flanks with ease.Transfer market).

The qualities Heskey emphasized are supported by a statistic from Who scored that the 19-year-old has completed by far the most dribbles of any player in the Bundesliga this season with 60 – teammate Antonio Nusa is next on the list with 43.

Diomande could very well provide that unpredictability in attack that would ooze Anfield, and while he certainly wouldn’t come cheap, the evidence of recent months would suggest he is capable of becoming a real showstopper of an attacker in the coming years.
