Elliotte Friedman believes Maple Leafs are looking for first-round pick for Bobby McMann
I don’t think so, I think they’ll keep looking around. They went there last week and told the teams that we are considering some things that we didn’t think we should consider. āFriedman
The Maple Leafs have had many player names mentioned in the trade deadline rumors, headlined by impending unrestricted free agent Bobby McMann, who has scored 19 goals and 13 assists in 56 games played.
I think they’re asking for a first-round pick for McMann, and I would too if I were the Leafs, that’s the price I’d set. I really like McMann as a player. In this NHL, size matters, and he’s a big, strong and fast guy. ā Friedman
Friedman also mentions Anthony Stolarz as another name that has been heard in rumors, as the Maple Leafs currently have Joseph Woll under contract through the completion of the 2027-2028 season, and Dennis Hildeby is waiting for a chance to establish himself as a full-time NHL goaltender. Stolarz signed a four-year extension in September and has played in 16 games, posting a 7-7-1 record, a 3.55 goals-against average and a .882 save percentage.
I think Stolarz is an interesting one. This is a guy who just renewed a few months ago. I’m curious about the fact that they want to trade him already. If they’re worried about him physically that’s one thing, but a year ago he and Woll were the second-best goaltenders in the league. āFriedman
With 25 games remaining, six of which remain before the NHL trade deadline, many eyes will be on the Maple Leafs to see what path they take for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.
